I do too agree, but to a less extreme extent.

what I mean by that is I'll do it once in a while, and I like to ping it every now and then when i see them, but I will not doe it for over 30 seconds. thats just super boring...

everyone expects gold/mushroom ping spam which de-values it's comedy factor greatly due to repetition

not many people spam ping comba buds in comparison, so when the whole team is pinging it it's much funnier

it's not a coincidence that a lot of DRG fans happen to be TF2 fans, who themselves are capable of laughing at the same jokes for over a decade straight

And i kinda disagree with both those takes, at this point it's not so much an inside joke as it is a ritual. Spamming them is annoying sure, but once or twice is alright, and it can be a way to indicate you're in touch with the community. It's no less annoying than a "rock and stone", and no more annoying than a "rock and stone" spam.

Doesn't hurt to not take things too seriously. Ultimately i'm not gonna get annoyed because someone pinged the gold chunk 10 times in a row, it's just whatever, ignore it, i don't care.
