Strange lag spikes
Ever since this season started ive noticed theres some weird connection issues with this game. One example is that during a connection interruption, a tunnel that a driller made suddenly sealed up part way, trapping me inside. Other times it's terrible rubberbanding where i teleport back and intercept my own nuke with my face.

EDIT: So that people stop making the same incorrect assumptions without fully reading what has already been discussed, here is a condensed version of what has been established and said:
-The issues relating to this discussion are not user/hardware issues, it is definitely DRG.
-There is random packet loss on both ends.
-The issue is not related to anyone's latency as it occurs randomly regardless of region.
-The issues seem to occur predominately during high playtimes according to some users.
-Friends who once played with each other without issue suddenly started getting these issues along with everyone else sometime after the start of season 2.
-These issues have become exacerbated after season 3.

It's happening to me as well. Serious issue out of no where. Really hope they fix

Some friends and I have been suffering this exact problem, regardless of who hosts or what we try to resolve it. We played a ton before the update and had no notable issues, but after it there's been consistent rubber-banding and lag spikes that seem to get worse the more missions play per session.

Switching hosts doesn't work and the issue affects us all.

Other p2p games we play also have not suffered these issues, so it feels isolated to DRG..

And yes, we are all wired and on low latency, high speed service with consistent ping.

If you are using a NVIDIA GPU go to Driver Settings and select or look for Power Management Mode and set to "Prefer Maximum Performance". Also check that Preferred Refresh rate is set to "Highest Available".

Most games that stutter on and off is due to these settings not set. Most forget to set them or forget when they do a clean install of drivers to reset it being it resets your saved settings if you do a clean install. The Unreal Engine is very picky if these settings aren't set and will cause lag spikes here and there or stutters.

If you are using a ATI card just look for a setting like this in the settings as well.
This isn't a graphics issue, somewhere along the line there's random packet loss. Turns out the devs are aware of this issue and are not sure what is causing it either as no one seems to be able to replicate it since it seems to occur randomly, which is a devs worst nightmare.

Seems like the first step would be to add more logging. If they added an option to submit your log to them after a round or after you get disconnected, that might help. Last I checked, they're expecting people to fill out a bug ticket on Discord which is off-putting.

Same problem here. We all use ethernet connections and are from various different locations. Feels like there is a random chance that the issue just won't happen with every time the game starts.

I experience some of these issues. But it's worth noting that i play on crappy wireless internet so most of my issues are gonna be on me. Most severe problems (like dcs and rubber banding) happen on Tuesday when steam has maintenance.
If you are getting ping spikes try hitting esc when they happen and looking at other's ping. If only you have bad ping it's something on your end. If everyone else also has bad ping it's the host, probably hosting on wifi or bad internet

When we are watching for issues, we all see packet loss both inbound and outbound with the in-game networking stats. We all see it at the same time as well. No spike in ping times, just packet loss in the +80% range.

I honestly think its just more people play and the likelyhood of encountering an wifi warrior is higher again.

Yup, but its more fun to be ignorant and spin up a million of these worthless threads.

Anyone found a resolution for this issue yet? Can confirm it started happening with the Yuletide update.

What? What part of any of what I said had anything to do with a meteorite?

ive noticed the problem doesnt exist at lowest player count during the night/early mornings US and its occuring frequently during peak times. again this is with pings in the 40-50ms range for both times. i ran at 1am with a chinese host i was banging away with 150ms and had not a single lag spike. ran at peak 7pm us central with several host with a 30-60ms ping and was rubber banding like mad.

i feel like this is due to however the game is setup to run multiplayer. its clearly not pure p2p. it seems like the heavier the player load is the more the issue is occuring.

in the old days i could run as high as 200ms before i had any lag issues and even then it was manageable.

Its due to packet loss on both ends. We know its definitely the game at fault, but no one really seems to know what exactly is causing this as far as I've seen.
