The game balance would be broken if boots were default
I did both assignments for this season and only found 1 crate of boots, so much more rare than events so far
Anyway, the new jet boots are leagues above the old ones, so they'd be insanely overpowered if everyone spawned in with them on by default.
Only way I could see them making the jetboots a thing you could spawn with is if you had it as a perk that takes up both active perk slots and even then I would only let the Scout have them since he's already the mobility class and this would be mobility on top of mobility and thus would balance out.
Perhaps the devs could add one 2 slot active perk for each class? Based around what the class is already good at.
1. Gunner could have some sort of Shield Boost that makes everyone near gunners shields instantly refill and take 90% less damage to shields for 30 seconds. 5 minute cooldown. Passively the gunner himself would recharge his own shield 30% sooner and faster. (This perk would basically be like a gunner version of the Shield Link perk we already have in the game)
2. Engineer could have the ability to deploy a mini-bosco that flies around and shoots stuff for 3 minutes and then it breaks from no energy. You can get another drone by getting ammo, but only can have 1 drone active and there's a 5 minute cooldown between drone spawns.
3. Driller could have an Overdrill ability that lets him sprint while drilling and also gives him quad damage with drills, creating large tunnels and shredding through enemies quickly. This ability lasts for 5 seconds and has a 3 minute cooldown between uses.
But yeah, that could be a pretty cool thing to add.
