These two features should be removed or reworked.
First thing and most annoying: devs need to remove the haunted cave modifier. Especially in single player. Especially in deep dives. I have neither the desire nor the patience to fight 2 dreadnoughts and collect 100000000 morkite while running away from a invulnerable ghost in tight space. Second thing: rng on overclocks. Why is this mechanic needed at all? I want to get the overclock that I want from the very beginning and enjoy the rest of the content, and not grind them over and over again.

If i promote a character, i should at least get 1 weapon OC for them... why am i presented with 2 cosmetic, 1 for driller and 1 for gunner, or a weapon OC for scout when promoting engineer? It's really offputting. Seems like it's just there to artificially inflate playtime/grind and 100% completion. It is by FAR the weakest part of the game.
This stance is completely justified and understandable; many players have expressed similar sentiment over the years. Paradoxically, this means it's not very likely it's going to be changed. Devs have heard these types of complaints many times before, and have repeatedly decided to still keep RNG Overclocks in the game.

Edit: On the other hand, they have been recently making changes to the OC system to improve the speed it can be progressed through, by adding an option not hard-timegated. If they changed that, then maybe they will also change the RNG system eventually.

I honestly dislike the randomness of overclocks in the sense that cosmetics are involved for classes you may not even have promoted...

Also, i disagree with the haunted cave. Solo, yeah it's tough, but that's sort of the point. I had a lot of fun kiting the dread and bulk around.

Frankly this. All or one you want per something something. Random lotteries are flawed in a way that quite a few people will get short end of a randomizer. Short end being 'just 3-4 months later' is still prity nasty.

Deep dives are supposed to be seeded challenge with some messed up stuff on the way though. It is unfortunate that OCs are tied to that but otherwise ghost is fine. Not everydays dish but i like it from time to time. It would be bad to loose that.

I wouldn't say that haunted caves are integral to the game, or even that many people like them. It would be great if there could be an overhaul done on it, either to add more types of ghost (menaces, grabbers, oppressors, etc) or to completely re-think the idea.


As for overclock RNG, it's to drive player retention and to encourage players to try new things instead of just choosing the meta choices. Now, is that enough justification for the frustration the RNG causes? I'm not convinced it's worth it, but the devs seem to think so.

Funny that you mention these, i have finished my very first deep dive with another guy. We had to collect morkite and kill 2 dreadnoughts while being chased by the ghost.
Bring at least someone with you.
