As for penalizing players, that's too easy to abuse. Imagine someone constantly jumping in front of your gun and tanking your payout for the mission.
In this particular case I was drilling to the drop pod while getting attaked from behind by a gliphyd grunt, the gunner (that was behind the glyphyd) overkilled it with the hurricane taking some of my hp.
the hurricane has:
**Area Damage 20 Explosive
**Radius 1.4m
**Maximum Damage Radius 1m
**Minimum Damage 50%
You got hit with one, maybe two missiles then. Would you prefer they left the grunt alive and let it kill you? You're making a mountain out of a molehill.
That area damage has a 0% friendly fire modifier - as in, it cannot do friendly fire damage. Only being directly hit by the missile deals friendly fire damage. That's 16 damage, reduced heavily depending on the hazard level. A single bite from that Grunt would have cost you just as much HP.
They are talking about one of the perk
"Friendly" is a perk that reduce how much damage you deal to your teamates and how much damage your teamates deal to you by 50%
95% of the friendly fire i deal are people suddenly appearing in front of me when i had the enemies under control.
No, i will not stop holding back an entire swarm and let us get overrun just because someone got greedy for a few kills.

If it REALLY bothers you, make your own lobby and make sure to put it in your title that you're really sensitive about FF. Punishments will literally never happen and not just because of trolls, i've saved many dwarves by shooting a grenade in their face to kill the 30 bugs that were about to completely delete them in the next second. By your logic i should get punished for carrying/saving the game.
You would also be punishing players for the usual goofing before the end of a mission.
It doesn't matter if they use it, as long as you use it; you'll take 1/2 the friendly fire damage.
