You're weird.
Stop being weird.
I have over 700 solo missions. I like the game mode, it's such a different vibe.
More power to you though, you freak.
In My Case I Had Both An Older 2014 Laptop That Could Lag a Team (and Still Have It) and Access To a Free Internet Connection On a Property I Was Renting For 3 Years That Was Behind the House Where the Router Was- So I'd Get Many Instances Of 'Lag Spikes' Where the FPS Would Drop So Low I'd Stall Or Get Disconnected and Get Auto-Kicked From a Team-
So My Philosophy Was To Not Join Teams So As To Not Annoy Others and Also Get Dropped Mid Mission and Suddenly a Team Is Short a Member They Had Come To Depend On- So I Ended Up Playing A TON Of Solo, Which I Found To Still Be a Great, Fun Experience, and Also Has Honed My Skill With All 4 Classes, As Depending On Each Skillset Solo, Just With Bosco, Makes Integration With a Team Much Easier
I Played So Much Solo I STILL Find It Somewhat Strange Over the Past Year Or So I've Had a Good Internet Connection To Be With Teams- I Of Course Love Being With Teams, But Still Do Solo Missions Every 4th Or 5th Time Just Because I'm Also Comfortable With Them
-There Are Actually a Few Things I PREFER With Solo Play-
-Being Able To Hit ESC and 'Pause' the Mission, Either To Use the Bathroom,
Answer a Phonecall, Take a Few Tokes, Or Refill My Drink
-Being Able To Take My Time, At My Own Pace, To Fully Explore and Grab EVERYTHING
On a Mission- Sure a 20 Minute Mission May Take 45 Minutes Now, But I Get To Do It All
On My Time, Without Annoying Or Delaying Others
-Using Bosco To His Fullest As a Helper- Especially Point Extractions and Egg Hunts, Or Him Grabbing One Cargo Crate Battery, and Me the Other, and We Meet Up At the Crate, and Lots Of Other Uses- Players With Teamwork Often Do Tasks Faster, But When You Know
How To Fully Command Bosco, You Can Sync Tasks Smoother
-A Scout/Bosco Combo I ALWAYS Forget I DON'T HAVE With a Team- And That's Where
With a Big Swarm Attack, I Use an IFG and Instantly Slam the Mass Of Bugs With a Rocket, Killing 5-10 All At Once- It's Such An Ingrained, 'Extra Attack' I Assume Scout Has, That With a Team I Will Automatically Point and Hit M2 After Tossing An IFG At Least ONCE,
EVERY TIME I Play That 1st Mission With a Team- I Use Bosco's Rockets Solo With
All 4 Classes, But Not As Often As I Do As a Solo Scout, Because You Get That 'Extra' Explosive Attack Scout Usually Doesn't Have- It Always Throws Me Off At Least Once,
Where I'm Clicking M2 2 or 3 Times Wondering Why My Rocket Isn't Firing
There are currently many green beards online and that can sometimes be extremely frustrating. I myself have been playing a ton of solo lately. The downside being that missions take longer.
I would contend that it does not. Solo does not teach you how teams collaborate. For instance, Bosco doesn't benefit an engineer to place a platform to reach minerals, and cannot fetch objectives like Fossils. Bosco is also a crutch for learning cooperation and even spatial awareness to a degree, such as the importance of sticking with your teammates and paying attention to what they are doing. Bosco can dig out large items like Aquarqs where teams need to learn how to cooperate and play to strengths to get objectives done. For instance as a gunner playing solo, you only need to drop a shield to protect yourself. A key part of team play is knowing to throw a shield to protect other players in certain situations. You won't learn that solo, so many green gunners seem to forget they even have a shield until it's too late.
Developing these skills makes running missions a lot faster and smoother, and the way to develop them is to play cooperatively. Yes, it will mean the first few games you're going to feel out of place, maybe even be scolded for having to be reminded to do "your part" whether flares, platforms, or dropping a shield, but that is the learning process. If you pay attention to what others are doing in various games, and listen/participate, you pick it up pretty fast. The vast majority of the player base is patient with new players and happy to mentor.
