BOSCO can do what Scouts do well, without getting wrecked by Cave Leeches or fall damage, too.
Gunner is the easiest to start with since you can shield yourself and the ammo pods so you can savely resupply.
Scout excels at certain missions like point extraction, but can struggle on defensive missions such as salvage.
I don't play solo often, but when I do I play scout just due to fun factor. If I had to pick the most "powerful" class, I would go with engi.
try them all, and then ask how to be better at the one you pick.
These are the “balanced” dwarves in the sense of firepower and agility (Gunner having subpar traversal but high firepower, and Scout having subpar firepower but high mobility). The reason I put Driller over Engineer as a starting class is because Engineer is honestly really rough before unlocking upgrades and overclocks and alternate weapons - the most difficult of the 4.
To enjoy the game fully though, you’ll wanna learn them all eventually. Get Driller (or engineer) to Level 25 and promote them to unlock all the game content, then start work on another dwarf if you’re still enjoying the game!
99.9% of the time new players fall into a trap of only ever running constantly with their grapple hook. Just extending their death throws much longer than is bearable.
Driller can solve mostly all problems. And almost all Scout problems at the cost of maybe 1 to 2 more minutes a mission.
Scout is too weak and lacks enough overall damage without all the OCs and cheese builds.
Go Driller.
Scout should be the last class a player takes.
Dont get me wrong, I love playing Scout, but if you havent taught yourself how to conserve ammo, and make each shot really count, you will drain a Scout of all ammo in a heartbeat.
If you become good at moving around with him, you will have no problem moving with the others.
In term of combat I can't really recommend any, for exemple I always found that gunnner potential shine the most in higher difficulties but that his firepower feels unecessary in lower difficulties.
At least if you pick gunner first, combat won't be much of an issue.
