fandom in general is a huge dumpster fire of a website and is generally frowned upon for getting fan information, including DRG its very susceptible to taking myths and completely made up theories as fact.
(also really easy to vandalize)
Axe heads make your pickaxe do chop damage for chopping bugs.
Pick heads make your pickaxe do picking damage for picking terrain.
Pickaxes with electrical parts stun enemies better.
Pommels influence the balance of your pickaxe for better picking or axing.
Red pickaxes strike faster.
Blue/ice pickaxes cool faster.
PIckaxes that match the colour of the environment provide stealth bonuses against bugs with eyes.
"Oh, you just didn't do the animation cancel correctly!"
"Oh, you just don't notice the 2% brightness, it's very subtle"

This is the only way to customise your pickaxe and there is no "hidden stats".
Yellow pickaxe is electric, blue cools faster, green is more effective against plants. It's common sense.
EA: hold my beer... *actual price goes to £9.99*
It's only small difference though.
