Drilldozer ommoran heart stone cage/trap phase insta damage bug
My buddy and I encountered a REALLY demotivating bug with the Doretta misson. We arrived at the stone and flew through phase one perfectly, after that we ended up getting the phase where the stone puts a dome around you and you'd need to break out, that being said... It wasn't the case this time.

When we reached that phase, we were camped out on top of the dozer, it made the dome inside Doretta, the dome broke immediately, and instantly broke her treads one after the other. It then took it 3 times to break her main body as we fought to repair it, we failed the mission near immediately due to this.

FYI: After the treads broke, we jumped off the robot but it still targeted Doretta.

Has anyone else run across this bizzare issue?

that's not a bug, that's how the game works. you're not supposed to stand anywhere near the dozer whilst the crystal cage attack is active

Also if you get some of the cages in range of the heartstone blast radius, when the phase changes it will shatter them for you leaving a reasonably clean area to fight still.

Yep, if you get that phase, easily identified by the shimmering shield around the heartstone (which does damage if perching on the heartstone) then stay well and truly away from the dozer. Just keep moving, I circle around the heartstone, and just shoot bugs. You will see a particle effect when it targets you for a cage so just be sure to be moving and we'll clear of the dozer so it doesn't take damage.

I haven't tried ziplines if it will still spawn cages beneath you which could damage Dorry.

Yes it appears after a delay where you were standing (so run away as soon as you notice it's that wave type). That's why even though it's been out for a little while now, I still type 'stay away from Dotty' when it shows up, especially if there are greenbeards.

I've found the best strat is for Gunner to throw a shield over her when she gets to 60% ish health, and scout can dip in there to quickly fix her. But no one should be standing anywhere near her otherwise.

its actually stupid tbh, no warning given, for insane damage, sometimes u dont even know why it lost so much health terrible for new players

There's a voice line at the start of the phase that indicates the danger, and it should be obvious enough once the first tread gets instakilled that something is up and you should probably try something different.

it'd be cool if we had some dwarf voicelines OR mission control said about it. (but in that case he would also say about the flying rocks and beamers) it'd be cool either way

Well, now you know. And it only took a single mission for you to figure it out.

This is not a steep learning curve. Took me several attempts before I worked it out - by now, that phase is a non-issue. Flying rock phase is 5000x worse.

Still hurts for playing with randoms and is just wayyy too punishing to be honest

I play exclusively with randoms. This is not an issue. In fact, the stone prison event is a non-issue entirely once you realise that you just need to sprint away at high speed when you get targeted and, if one of your teammates do get caught, help free them.

Some trial and error is fine in video games as in life.

something being punishing doesn't make it bad design, it makes you stubborn
The idea of the phase is to keep you on your feet, preventing players from camping on the dozer is good design

it still wouldnt hurt for a dwarf to say something like "Lets keep the traps off doretta!"

I literally am never affected by this, I just move off. Like, this never happens to me, it is just poor design. I'm not complaining about it saying its too hard or impossible to stop, it's just bad.
