Do Refinery missions and scout the whole cave for cargo crates. If you don't find it, abandon mission and try again.

Point Extraction and Egg Missions have reduced chances for Cargo Crates, so they are less viable for farming.

6 egg egg hunt is 12.5%, compared to max complexity refining being 13%. So egg hunt is fine. It's point extraction that's really bad.
6 egg egg hunt is very good since it generates one big room. Very fast to check it out and then leave if it doesn't have what you want.

mod integration, think of it like thunderstore if you've ever used that (if not dw), it's a seperate program where you can paste mod.io links to install mods for drg

what makes it stand out is that you can install approved and sandboxed mods without the strict rules of official integration; you dont have to disable mods to join others, people can join you without having to install the mods (unless they are requiredbyall) and you dont need to make a seperate sandbox file. basically treats approved and sandboxed mods like verified mods

You still need to dig through dirt and run through a tunnel before you can explore the entirety of the cave which slows the process down every time you reload a mission, meanwhile OSR is completely open by default and can fully explored a lot faster, besides having slightly higher chance for finding chests.

Refining generates more complex caves so it takes longer to check though. So in the end I think they're about even.

Just play the game and before you know it you'll be getting the message that there is nothing more to get from them. It's all cosmetic stuff that you'll almost certainly not use.

Do more missions.

If the only reason you play is because you're hoping for a specific cosmetic, it's time to stop playing for a while.

im 1k hours in, and still not get a weapon framework im trying to get. Even though I've joined several lobbies that are 100% crate drop.

I still enjoy the process of playing, but its still long were someone try to get something.

That's just because they do add things every season or so. 24 weapon frameworks were added in S5. Two pickaxe sets appended for the lost packs.

Do note that while previously past seasons frameworks and such would have been added to crates at the start of the new season, with S5 that changed. If you want a framework from a previous season you now need to launch that season to resume it and unlock the cosmetics you want rather than waiting for an ever-growing pool in the crates.

There is one thing as good as refinery (both complexity)

6 egg hunts on biozone or sandblasted.
Extremely fast to check and the main room is very often immediatly opened with the start room.

There are 208 crate rewards. The highest chance for a crate spawn, is 15% but its as low as 7% depending on mission type. So on average, you get what? a 10% chance? That would mean 2000 missions or so to get everything, if my math is not wrong.
There is also the possibility that you don't get the item you want until the very end. You might literally have to grind 2000 missions, just to get that one silly weapon framework you desire, that mostly, only you will notice. Quite crazy.

Im 330 hours in, and I've done about 500 missions. That would mean a 1200 or so hour playtime, unless the player is speedrunning like crazy, which in my opinion, just makes the game unfun.
