You would also need to tell what Windows you two use, what CPUs you have and how much RAM.
But seeing that it talks about the D3D Engine I doubt it has anything to do with the game being on steam or epic. D3D Engine points towards the GPU and what CCShad said is the first thing I would try.
You can select since some time ago if you want to play Deep Rock Galactic like it was, in DX11 or DX12... which might be the right direction to look for this problem.
You know I just learned that dx12 works on windows 7. Honestly I just assumed it was running 12 this whole time and maybe it was idk I have to look into it.
So I have frames limited to 62 and vsync on but that never stopped the crashing.
I am running windows 7 and my friend is running some version of linux.
I could try reinstalling the game like they said but I sorta doubt that’ll do anything since I only recently installed it about a week ago after taking a break since early access.
I only play the free games they give me on Epic :-) screw those guys.
Yea I play DR on steam.
But your problem could be with either DirectX itself, with your GPU driver or... the game. Deep Rock Galactic... is not bug free...
Yea so I made sure my drivers are fully updated and eventually I still crashed. I am going to ry the uninstall reinstall and see what occurs. Last crash though with the latest driver I was able to give amd a pretry detailed report with their new reporting service which is nice. If the uninstall/reinstall still doesn’t work I am going to try quitting and reloading the game after every mission.
Anyone know how to potentially repair directx if it is possibly causing the issue?
And yea it seems like everyone I know has a crash here or there now. It just sucks when once you start crashing you keep crashing at time. The uncertainty + exp lost is bad.
For GPU Drivers you can completely deinstall them, maybe go as far as search a software that completely removes any trace of it, and then install the newest driver.
For DirectX you would need to download a package from Microsoft, which Installs/Checks an installed DirectX. So if you click that package it would first check that do you have DirectX installed or not, if not it installs it. If yes it would verify the files and make sure they are right.
This might be out of the blue... but on what HardDrive do you have the game/windows installed? If the game is on another drive then windows, it is possible that the drive has problems. In the case of old style HD's blocks/sectors could die, in the case of SSD's its the same thing(that's why they have "over provision" to not appear to shrink).
So yeah you could also check your Drives. But this should be captured by Steam when it checks the files, that should recognize that parts of a file is missing, and then it tries to redownload the file and save it.
However, it could be the simply the game... that said I do not have had a big problem with the game keep crashing, but that said I didn't play allot since the patch hit. I am busy with another game right now
Do you have the Epic Launcher on in the background as you play this game?
Some launchers have issues where they try to run everything through it, epic is quite known for causing issues with its launcher.
Try both turning everything Epic off, and only have Steam on, and no other game launchers. Maybe that might fix the issue.
No epic.
You do know that Epic owns unreal right?
One post you say you have it on Epic but play on Steam, and here you say you play on Epic?
And yes I know about the Unreal Engien, but you should not have to log into Epic when you play a game using it, when you have said game on Steam.
To be clear I do not have Epic installed. I visit their webpage to claim free games that is it.
I only play games on steams. I play drg on steam.
Then the error is related to the Unreal Engien as opposed to the Epic launcher.
As it gives an error about D3D not being found, which is Direct3D a driver program for your video card.
A few causes and fixes that might help;
- Verify the integrity of your game files on Steam (got to library, right click game, got to local files) There might be missing content or corrupt content.
- Go into your Antivirus software and put DRG on the exeption list. Your Antivirus might allow the game to run, but still block out files/data and programs it needs to run it.
It would also be a good idea to put all Steam folders into the exeption list of your antivirus.
- If you have your AMD driver updated, try manualy going back to a previous driver or manualy install the newest driver on their webpage.
- This might sound a bit strange, but you might also want to check in your computers settings what Grafics card is set as Default. It might be that because of an issue, or something you might have done yourself that your Grafics card is not selected properly, and your pc runs on the motherboard and ram only.
Both an old (not sure which) and the newest driver have crashed randomly.
Antivirus isn’t the issue rn.
I will verify the integrity of the game cache.
Update or reinstall your drivers.
