"Brb Taking a Smoke Break"

Genuine question but how many of you go for smoke breaks when playing video games? In the last 10 or so missions I've done, at least 4 hosts just decided to go completely afk for a smoke break. I usually just leave if host does this. It's annoying and a waste of time. They could at least get in the drop pod so the rest of us could start the mission.

This is such a weirdly specific trend that I've really only seen in DRG. I guess they're at least getting in character for the "hard working tough guy who drinks too much beer" get-up that the Dwarves are known for. Although in this case they've replaced drinking with smoking.

I thought you take smoke breaks because things are too stressful, and play video games to de-stress. Maybe I'm just too naive, but I don't get why someone would do both. Just be like Gunner is (on the cover art anyways) and smoke WHILE you shoot bugs.

When I'm hosting, I'll usually heat up my coffee in-between rounds (in the space rig before the mission) if I'm drinking some, but that's after we've already completed a previous mission generally and are getting ready to start another. I will always communicate to my team what I'm doing of course, such as: "brb heating up coffee, take a 3-4 min bio (bathroom) break if needed."

I've counteracted it with a Hot Take, no worries lol; they cancel each other out.

I just wanted to add in, not sure if anyone else said this, I didn't read every post. But I personally have observed at least one player who would claim going "AFK" for reasons (usually bathroom) in what I consider a form of griefing or perhaps looking for a carry. I saw the same person do it twice in different missions. Just like 2 minutes into the mission declaring AFK and then not moving again until we wiped.

Yea it is annoying when smokers grab the straggling team mate, usually a Francis or Louis player and it just sets the team back before the zombie horde hits your group.

They are getting rock and STONED. I usually see it during deep dives when someone says brb smoke break. They just sit in the starting room or at the end of an Escort mission while we wait for them to come back. Half the times that happens they start playing like complete ass and we nearly fail/fail the mission.
