You can stun so many enemies with it while still having damage.
Imagine my surprise when I learned that even in modded its pretty nice.
Though It also gives even less reason to use pgl now, since one of the main argument for pgl is that it doesn't struggle with terrain.
It's a lame energy based weapon.
Every single weapon in the game is based on energy of some kind.
Thermal, kinetic, you name it.
PGL rounds are loaded with potential energy that is unleashed in an explosion on impact, which itself is achieved by transferring kinetic energy to the rounds and propelling them out of the barrel.
Kinetic energy is the only cool kind of energy. Also fire, fire is pretty metal.
Shooting balls of glowing light is for knife eared leaf lovers.
Real Dwarves need real bullets!
Here, in MY breach cutter thread?
MY THREAD?!
Granted, the breach cutter is a bit unorthodox when it comes to lasers, but the shard diffractor's got the right idea for sure.
Lasers are a step up from plasma, but a step down from bullets.
i dont use roll, yaw or anything else but the one oc i do use on it. which ill have to look at and edit this later lol. you can use the other oc's and they do work well but i find they specialize the weapon too much. they take a weapon of just raw power and choke it to a thing to just strip armor or kill specialized enemies. theres nothing wrong with that but if you are going to specialize in killing just one enemy the other weapons give a better loadout to do it.
engies are about heavy firepower. after 13,000 missions with randoms the breach just does so much 95% of the time its just the best choice. when the team gets overwhelmed, the lasers zero a entire wave in just 1-3 shots if you pack them up. when i need to tear down a det the dps of a full belt of ammo can tear down almost anything in game. i can widen the lasers enough to catch large numbers of mactera in one pass if i funnel them with a little bit of work.
now i will admit my skill level amplifies the breach's overall effectiveness so taking my setup and putting it in the hands of a noob will wildly undercut the results.
when you talk about a given setup for the breach you have to recognize the lower your skill bar is the more heavily you are going to rely on the weapons raw stats to carry you.
its an ugly truth but there it is.
so my shining review means less to people who are not trying to be better and should be taken as such.
