"without a paddle" achievement troubles

I started a haz 1 elemination mission, located the cocoon, drained crisper ammo, shot all sabata ammo into the wall, blew all my C4, burned all my drill fuel, threw all my toxin grenades, and cracked the cocoon with the pickaxe, killed the dread with just the pick for fun, and didn't get the achievement. Thought maybe bosco was keeping me from getting it so I started another mission without bosco and did the same thing, didn't get the achievement.
What do I need to do?

That should work. Are you running any approved or sandbox mods by chance? I believe they disable achievements. If not it's probably just misbehaving because achievements in this game are weird. I'd give it a try on another class maybe.

i don't think the dreads in the coccoons can count, since they're "Spawned" at cavegen, when you have full ammo.

Just did it with scout and confirmed that it works. Maybe something about driller prevents you from doing it?

Nah there's no way they'd make you do it on a random dread spawn. The dreads don't spawn until the egg is popped either.

I believe you have to spend all of your ammo during the fight, not before. So, take out most of the dreads health, then spend all of your ammo before killing it.

Nah, you have to spend all your ammo before popping the cocoon. The achievement does state that you have to be the last one standing, presumably of a team, so maybe you have to do it while in an online game. You don't need anyone else to do it though, I just did it solo (by myself, not in a solo game), but I think you may have to host a friends-only lobby for it to work.

Yes, they do count.

Nope, spending all ammo - everything-everything - and cracking a dread egg will get the trophy.

I got this achievement completely naturally, and in hindsight; I'm not sure how lol.
