Deep Rock Galactic
Should I buy this game (Deep Rock Galactic) in the year 2024?
Hey guys, I have been playing Helldivers 2 for a while now, but I have been thinking of trying Deep Rock Galactic as well, I know that the game is like 4 years old now so I am wondering, is it a death game or the community is still alive? And if the game is not death, then how active is its comunty?

I've played both games and I think DRG is much better. If you don't like fighting for democracy just for money and fame, this game is for you:steammocking:

It's a very fun game and far, far from dead. The community is also one of the nicest and most supportive I've ever seen anywhere.

EZ buy without any remorse. If you can get someone to progress with, it's even better.

DRG team never tried to backstab the playerbase once. No greed, no sellout, no P2W features, no shady anticheat, no exit scam, which is a blessing today considering how bad the market is. There are mods to keep the game alive too. Season 5 is coming in a month (tho the timing is a bit tight because elden ring dlc will happen too).

Its actually great game. One time purchase and everything is unlockable in the game by playing it. Only thing that you can pay for is supporter edition if you want to give money to the devs or few cosmetics and few cosmetic packs. You dont need to buy them because there are already a lot of cosmetics in the game that can be unlocked.

Good community, fun game. The people who grief are usually quickly dealt with and then just left until they get bored and quit. The community "self-moderates", in a way. I've only encountered this once in a hundred scenarios. You will have those players in any game, but DRG's griefer count is remarkably low. The characters are funny, the humor is irreverent, and the beer is good. Except Leaf Lover's. But nobody likes Leaf Lover's.

Gabe prohibited having both deep rock and helldivers on your account. This is due to the corporate policy of Steam and the fight for purity of the ranks

DRG's an excellent game, though I would recommend getting it with some friends. One big thing I enjoyed, was learning the game slowly with a couple of other players, and I feel like that's probably harder to do now, since playing Solo isn't as fun (it can be fun but really not the way the game's mean to be played), and playing on public servers you'll probably run into people who have hundreds or even thousands of hours on this game who while tend to be really cool in my experience will feel a bit 'too good' if that makes sense? Sort of like playing Dark Souls with a friend who's been playing for a few years and is a certified Parry God that just trivializes every area and turns every boss fight into a cakewalk where you're less playing the game and more enjoying the sights.

That is not to say that the game gets 'too easy' past a certain point, you can always switch to higher difficulties and then do Deep Dives for even more punishing gameplay that will always test your limits, but it's not unusual to see a really experienced player show up in middle difficulties looking to help new players out but accidentally making the game a bit too easy.

So again, TL;DR: I recommend the game, but if you can, grab it with a friend or three who are also new(ish) to it and try to learn it like that!

the game still has a good 5-10 years of life in the playerbase so yeah its not going anywhere.

just understand its a casual game. if youre looking for sweats you wont find it here without some serious time investment.

Real question people need to ask themselves is "Why i did not buy this earlier" not "Should i buy".

To answer OP's question: yeah ofc. Especially because no PSN account is required.
