1. Backup your files.
2. Backup your files!
3. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you moron back them up now!!!
5. Did you backup your files ?
That's literally what Steam cloud storage is supposed to do.
But its out of your control, and backup out of your control is no backup at all.
Data redundancy 101.
Supposed
Shhhh, dont wake Gabe.
I have exactly as much control over it as I need. But I also know how it works and don't just take any random claim on a Steam forum at face value, so I guess I have that advantage.
Ignorance is a blessing.
Can you check what you see at Deep Rock Galactic/FSD/Saved/SaveGames folder?
Specifically, what size is your _Player.sav files? Any info is welcome, thanks.
1.02Mb a piece.
Also, looking at the amount of storage I have left for DRG on the Steam cloud; it would seem the actual limit is 10Mb.
But you have full control and know how it works? Why dont you know the basic limits of the service?
I mean isnt that what someone a few seconds said?
Well, after a quick Google search it seems there are some "hacky" ways to delete things from your Cloud save to free up space, but no I wouldn't say we have full control; and I surely don't understand everything about how it works lol.
I keep a manual back up not only on my home computer, but also in a separate Dropbox cloud.
we should really be teaching this sort of stuff in schools by now. gen alpha kids are going on to become one of the least tech-literate generations in history (rivalling that of baby boomers) because all technology now is so streamlined and babyproof
Yes backing up is a good practice, but how is anyone supposed to know there's a file size limit on DRG's Steam Cloud? This is not an user issue, but a failure of communication from GSG.
The whole point of cloud storage is that you shouldn't have to worry about it. I backup tons of my important files into the cloud. If my PC craps out and then the cloud said "sorry, there was an invisible file limit here" and it didn't upload half of my files, what good is it?
You use Steam Cloud with the express understanding that failing a fatal system error, your game progress is saved when synced. In DRG's case, it eventually fails on you.
