Tips on using minelayer OC for hurricane?
Its supposed to be super strong but in normal haz5 pubs it just feels bad to use since every enemy is dead before it walks on my mines. Like.. the only way I get kills is if I use it like a normal hurricane and aim for body shots lol. So is this super strong OC even worth using in pubs?

It's a lot less effective if playing with others, and you/they aren't communicating. You usually need to be letting people know "mines here, don't waste time ammo killing approaching enemies". Otherwise, as you describe, it doesn't work all that well.

The one time that it will still work well without communication is defence objectives, like salvage and escort. A ring of mines will kill anything that gets close.

Also solo. It's busted when playing alone. Super ammo efficient and high DPS as well as it all being AOE.

Minelayer is at it's best when you know where the enemy will come from or head towards, and place mines in advance to kill them before they even become visible to your team. This works best on Salvage, Escort and Refinery missions where you'd deal with enemies following predictable paths. It becomes less useful when you only use against enemies that are visible and within range (just use jetfuel instead).

On a side note, how many mines can be active at once? And whats a good OC for the hurricane?

I personally run it with 11212.

Go for headshots as it kills grunts in one hit, and helps melting and stunning HVTs.

Minelayer is amazing, but as said above it really excels on defensive missions.

use stun and mag size with born ready. never use jet fuel, because of the high spread. minelayer operates at close to medium range.

As many mines as you can place down before they expire. There is no limit to how many can be active at once.

Also when you notice your teammates kill everything before you get to kill things with mines, you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Clearly your team is good enough to kill everything without you, and you are competing for kills with players who have instant damage weapons.
Only way to solve this, is by taking flanks your teammates are not fighting at. shoot targets far away like spitballers etc. And spread out your mines a lot, so they contribute towards killing things without wasting too many on overkilling.

I never had issues with minelayer being bad in Haz5, but i also tend to be at places my team needs help or is not fighting at.

the shots from the minelayer spread outward as they fly. even if you land on your target terrain, you cannot control the pathing of enemies and many of them will miss, going to waste. this is why I say only use at close to medium range. do not attempt to use at long range. pick a secondary for heavy foes.

stand on top of the uplink, aim about 45 degrees down, and spin around slowly while holding m1.

Minelayer is best when defending, or need to hold a choke point where the enemies are coming from

You can shoot at your feet as you fallback while the enemies chase you and run into your mines, such as some tunnels after clearing compact dirt
