What are the graphics settings that are most impactful?
I'm playing this on a i7 7700 with a 1070ti at 1080p resolution and I'm getting a lot of framedrops below 60fps.

Which settings should I be looking at that have the greatest impact on performance?

Just play on Medium settings with Resolution scale on 100%. Honestly can't really see any difference between Medium or Ultra, DRG graphics aren't that fancy but the game otherwise is great

Low anti aliasing or turn it off. Mid shadows.

Shouldn't have an issue with those specs with highest settings.

how odd, i get solid fps with a 970 at 1080p. stupid question but you are running on the 1070 and not the hd 630 right?

Shadows in almost every single game are going to have the highest performance impact with a near minimal improvement. Turn those low first. Next I'd reduce view distance. You won't notice it unless you get a massive chamber on complexity 3. Your resolution slider can be adjusted down to roughly 80% or so if you need that to improve performance. It'll still give you a rendered resolution greater than 1600x900.

I also have a 1070 and I run all Ultra settings @ 1080p and it's 60 fps rock steady.

You might have something else going on there?

Honestly, a 1070ti is not gonna be your bottleneck. May be anything related to the CPU, or another resource bottleneck. May just have to experiment with everything and see what happens, most likely anything with lighting or physics should be a good start.

Buddy above had a good suggestion to make sure the game is not using the integrated graphics, too.

Shadows are the most brutal because of the MANY bugs, especially as you go up haz levels.

also, game is more CPU bottlenecked then most other game because of the need to run AI for every single bug. That may explain things.
