But, any other coop horde shooter is pretty much just going to be the same thing, but without randomly generated caves and terrain manipulation.
Left for dead, back for blood, vermintide, and that other war hammer game are pretty much all I can think of.
My phrasing was off. That's exactly what I mean. DRG isn't CoD, Apex, Fortnite or some other "360 no scope" game with lots of sweaty PvP. It feels like a collaborative mining game that happens to involve guns (and lots of fun). That's the similar thing I'm looking for.
Thanks I'll check them out.
Cheers
DRG is a well-balanced mulitplayer/cooperative horde shooter. It's only comparisons are its inspirations: Left 4 Dead and Minecraft.
Remember Orcs Must Die? Dungeon Defenders? They were both somewhat enjoyable coop horde shooters, but were horribly unbalanced with World of Warcraft/Diablo-style loot pools with ever-increasing power-creep as the game went on and player levels increased.
Hell, even Payday 2 suffers from the same issues, but this time the power-creep occurs in the form of DLC weapons. Not to mention that game has horrible gunplay, beyond stupid enemy AI, unsatisfying graphics and physics, and a pretty boring gameplay loop (imagine every mission has a singular hacking pod that needs babysitting for 10-20 minutes...)
Maybe I'm missing something, but the market space which DRG currently occupies is wide-open. It's not even that big of a game, it just so happens to do all the things it's supposed to do well and doesn't screw-off and ruin itself by adding unbalanced/bloated content.
Thanks for the suggestion. Doesn't seem to be PvE though or did I get that wrong?
Cheers. I thought you were telling me to GTFO, but it's a damn game 😅.
7 days to die and the forest seem pretty interesting. Would you know how long a session is? Watching video reviews right now to get a sense of the game.
🙏 Looks interesting. Added to my wishlist and will watch video reviews.
-GTFO basically requires a 4 man team so you either need friends or you have to seek out a group.
-The Forest is co-op but it is not a lobby based game, it's more like a single player game you can play together if you want; it's a very long duration survival game.
Payday 2 is pretty solid though, I definitely enjoyed my time with it, not sure how the Linux support is; but if it's good that might be your best bet.
It’s fun to hop on and experience the chaos of a massive battle, but do not expect to be a one man army, and not all battles are completely balanced. More times than not, two factions tend to steam roll over the other, which can make for a very bleh experience.
