Now you could have the rival bots attack bugs in their vicinity if nothing is around, but then they would prioritise dwarves that are a bigger threat.
more to the point, the fact that robots are inorganic doesn't even matter because the bugs attack dwarven equipment like the drilldozer or hacksy. they clearly don't need to eat something to warrant attacking it
this is the type of stuff that makes seasonal factions feel so inconsequential and disconnected from the main game. it really wouldn't break the balance to let rivals attack the bugs. nobody would just wait around for bugs and robots to kill each other because that would be extremely boring
in DOOM games the demons can infight with one another. do you just stand around watching them kill each other? no, you jump in there and get in on the action. the exact same thing would happen in DRG
