Best engineer build?
i play drg with my pals. We are a party of 3 dwarves, a driller, gunner, and engineer, i am the engineer and we are all about to promote for the first time. we are about to start getting into the real meat of the game with haz 4 and all that. and i want to know what is the best loadouts for engineer so i can perform the best i can, i am using full stock weapons as i find those most comfortable. i use 2 sentries for more dps. and expanded ammo bags for the sentry to account for 2 using up that much sentry ammo. what do you think are the best passives, actives, sentry and weapon builds? i really have no clue.

As an engineer player myself, it purely devolves into playstyle and creativity. it's hard to determine the "best build" since you guys haven't gotten into the meat with OC's yet but for vanilla mods I personally think that full auto shotty is the best for an aggressive style.

My build being A-B-A-C-B and running B-A-B-B-A on PGL. this is an aggressive engi build I use so perk you might want are resupplier to resupply in combat quicker, born ready so you can shoot your PGL then let it auto reload, and thorns or any QOL perk.

For active I would take Berserker, Beastmaster, or field medic, I heavily recommend dash as well. As for the grenade, plasma burster or prox mines

once you get some OCs these build heavily change and you can find your own style you feel comfortable with, granted I only provided you a BUILD but didn't tell you how to play with it, it may not be suited to your gameplay but I personally think this is one of the best vanilla builds.

but the lure has saved me and my pals from getting stomped at least 293840 times

Pheromone bombs make Lure obsolete and while the L.U.R.E. grenade is powerful still, its very redundant since you can coral enemies with PGL and your platform gun.

we have no scout though. so we have no pheromones

also as for my playstyle. i find defence to be very fun. i find salvage missions super fun and enjoy defending the pod. and having a safe spot for my pals to get to if they are hurt.

Then you would want A-B/C-B-A-A for your shotgun and keep PGL the same.

For passive perks you wan Veteran depositor, Sweet tooth or resupplier, and keep born ready.
For active perk i heavily encourage Shield Link and field medic, You could get away with replacing one for dash.
Bug reppellant on the platform gun will be a must have then.
you can keep LURE or go with prox mine but i still prefer prox mines since bug reppellant will do it's job well enough if you use it correctly.

Pretty much agree with most of this.
Though I prefer to have the little extra PGL area damage on tier 2 and take incendiary rounds. Since this allows the PGL to 1 shot and quickly burn out slashers, mactera spawn and even greatly damage unrolled shellbacks on hazard 4/5 in 4-player.

However burning reduces its effectiveness on grunts, praetorians and dreadnoughts since they have heat resistances/immunity. But then the PGL isn't that great against those anyway no matter what build you take.

steve is a better distraction than the lure imo, each grenade has a 10 enemy limit distracted, compared to having 6 plasma grenade that each can oneshot a group of grunt, and damage through armor (with a bonus fear chance) or the proximity mine that further improves your ability to guard an area, doesn't feel worth

And don't forget your nuclear grenade launcher mate.
