2. Look for missions with the Double XP modifier and an easy warning with high XP yield.
3a. In Double XP missions, do everything that grants you bonus XP (secondary objectives, machine events, meteors, mining).
3b. If you cannot find any mission with good modifiers, go for speed, i.e. do secondary objectives, meteors and machine events only if they do not cut into your completion time.
I wouldn't speed run at all costs because you'll need gold and minerals to promote, plus any OCs you get along the way.
Also if you are promoting one class at 25, do the promotion missions using a different class to avoid wasting the XP. Stagger your promotions as the last thing you want is 4 dwarves on 25 at the same time.
- highest hazard you can do
- long morkite mission if you have the morkite drink it's 20% more morkite minerals so it's more xp
- X2 xp modifier is always good for boosting xp
- Lithophage outbreak modifier, the seasonal modifier is always the best mutator (it's 50% hazard boost)
another ideal one for gold/xp would be any mission with pots of gold drink, gold rush, golden bugs and as much nitra as possible in the mission but I don't even know if it's possible to have that much luck
For XP/h it's better to get in and out of a mission as fast as possible while completing the secondary objective. (Ideally with Double XP.)
1) Do primary objectives as fast as possible. (Non-optional.)
2) Complete secondary objectives, if possible, as fast as possible.
3) Do, or at least activate, machine events. (You get the XP for the event being completed or timing out. Example: Start OMEN and carry on with the rest of the objectives.) ***
*** I don't know if this applies to meteor, rival events, korlock.
Regarding mutators: Do mutators you think you can do quickly. Think of them more of a bonus. Double XP is more important than red mutators.

Mission types: Avoid anything that has a time/effort wasters. Salvage, Escort, Refining, Industrial Sabotage all have time wasting events (Refining's pipe building, refining portions... Escort's digging, fuel collection, boss fight... Salvage's). Elimination comes close due to boss HP, but can be completed quickly.
Note that you can just do whatever mission type. Double XP smooths out whatever XP/h losses you may be taking.
EDIT: tldr: Double XP. Do mission as fast as possible. Do secondary objective as fast as possible. Press buttons and run.
most of this is spot on.
but theres a caveat thats not mentionted
theres pro xp and nub xp
a veteran team can do a haz 4/5 pe with 10 arqs in under 7 mins. a pro team can do it in just 5 mins. nubs almost never have a chance of doing this just because they do not know how yet. its not wise to set your expectations too high if you are running with players under lvl 600 generally.
for nub xp runs
do the the primary and secondary objs and get out as stated above.
make sure when you host to put xp speed runs in your title so people know what to expect, if they bother to read.....
once you get the objs dont do that ready nonsense just call in a suppy pod and punch it. this is not about waiting for that one guy to deposit his 10 gold....
plague hearts are worth it on nub runs. used to there was a 10 min timer, if you didnt get a rock by then you were prob not going to. i do not know if that is still true maybe somebody here would know better than i would. but wait your mission out at least 10 mins even if you get it done earlier.
machine events give xp even if they fail. start them up mid mission and tell people to ignore it and keep getting the objs.
double xp is always a requirement when they pop, except for eliminations. nubs can struggle with those. its worth bypassing a double xp elim mission with noobs that might end up taking 40 mins to do it.
if there are no double xp look for high credit missions, the lithophage usually adds pretty significant xp to any mission.
non-machine events like korlock, or that robot one you have to watch your team carefully, if they are dying a lot or the scout is not getting nitra, its not worth the waste of time. just ignore them and move on. but if you have a good team go for it.
doing just ONE speed run is worthless, to get the bang for your buck you have to pop several back to back at least 3.
as stated above this is about xp per min per average time spent. so you are wanting to get in out and do the mission again, even if its the last one before the map roll. lot of players are like "no we can go slow theres not enough time to do it again!" yeah thats bs. this is about time spent on average across your play time. getting that 1000xp per min is what you are shooting for.
always watch for the map roll timer. if theres only 10 mins left dont take on an escort mission unless its double xp, pick something like pe that is a quick in and out.
a pro team can usually squeak in a double xp pe 4 times before the map rolls. you will be doing well with a nub team to get in 2 usually on random noobs.
if you have any interest in getting deep in the dirty of speed running add me and we can set you up with your ideal setup
2. Sort by Time Elapsed.
3. Join game that's 15+ minutes in.
4. Repeat.
Only other thing I can advise is to join up on missions that are already in progress, since you'll still get the full reward.
if you're slow, egg hunt
