Why you, yes you, don't like modded servers?
More precisely, "Approved" mods, not client side ones.

I'm making a little research of my own, and this is a queston for the people who don't like or hate modded servers.

Why you don't join them? Why you don't play with "Approved" mods? Is there any particular reason why we should not play with the "Approved" mods?

I do play them, although i'm currently only playing if a friend wants to.
Rarely joining as usually most pick too many mods that make stuff easier.

hm it's not like i don't like the modding community or people who host modded, I just don't join them because i like playing vanilla. But im not against people using mods, in fact it's the opposite. I think modding and especially modding support like implemented in Deep Rock is a great thing as it offers replayability and veriaty to a game. I do use mods in other game, but this is usually to enhance the gameplay. However there is nothing for me to enhance in drg so...

Because half of them are outright cheats that just buff everything.

I would play on them if most of them weren't just buffs to the base game. When I see difficulty ones or interesting ones I join them.

Because I haven't 100% the game, and they disable achievements. Not going to risk permanently breaking achievements, as some others have reported.

Plus, I like to get the full vanilla experience before I start messing with that stuff.

Verified mods still allow achievements, just FYI.

Yeah, I just wanted to make sure you knew that wasn't all mods.

Dozen of mods which people use are in my eyes cheats. :approved:

Also it adds "Modded" next to the name. :ohanache:

#1 reason, Im a green beard, so I have no clue what Im getting myself into when joining such lobbys

#2 I dont like having to download a bunch of mods for joining each and every lobby, mods that I might never ever use or I might only usce for that 1 session in my entire DRG mining life.

I dont hate said lobbys, they can be great for the players involved; I simply dont feel interestd in those atm. But I do use a lot of verified mods for reasons (looking at all the Hololive ones..Im such a weeb).

I don't use "approved" mods or play in modded servers. I am not a cheater.
Aratorin Apr 30, 2023 @ 3:55pm
I'm surprised so many people consider them cheats.

APPROVED (As in Approved for Progression)
Approved Mods are mods that have been reviewed and have been deemed Approved for Progression by the GSG crew. Approved Mods are mods that change gameplay elements and game modes but not to a degree we consider “cheating”.

The guidelines seem to rule out most things that would make the game easier.

Its simple.
Its too easy to make your game significant easier.
I don't want to spread the how to, so i won't write it here.

Because some people don't want to play with mods. There, that's the answer.

It's a pain in the ass to set up for some people, some don't want unbalanced mods, some just want the vanilla experience, etc

What they mean by "cheating" is cheating progression. Ie. Leveling faster or getting rewards faster.

Approved mods do stuff like make your guns and tools way better, but you still have to play the maps; so you progress at the same rate essentially. You're not gonna complete the map that much faster just because your gun does double damage and you have 8 Gunner shields.

That said, straight up making your gun/tools do more damage or have more ammo is definitely cheating by most people's definition lol.

Verified mods are the only cheat free mods, since they are purely QOL or cosmetic.
