Most hated mission?
For me, it’s elimination. I feel like this mission is the only one where I can’t rock whatever loadout I feel like using and I HAVE to use one specifically built for taking the dreadnoughts out quickly. The bosses aren’t that fun to fight against in general, and the strategy a majority of the time is just “pop egg, lead back to spawn or big area, kite, kill it, move on to next boss”. It’s just painfully boring overall and it sticks out like a sore thumb in a game where the rest of the missions are overall fun.

That would be really neat. I think they would do well with a flying Dreadnought, though it really wouldn't work too well if they kept calling it "Glyphid Cocoon."

Escort. Certain builds of mine can struggle depending on the mission, but the only mission type that basically hard counters certain builds of mine (read: reasonably high loss rate on haz 4, and near impossible haz 5). Defending a truly vulnerable target, combined with flying rocks being status immune... Certain builds just don't work, and I hate that.

Of course other missions can strongly encourage certain builds over others (elimination and sabotage), but you can still win with basically anything. Escort... you just can't.

It used to be Elimination and Industrial Sabotage for me, but it turns out installing a few sound/music mods was all I needed to enjoy them again.

So now it's mostly Escort. It's a bit slow and not very varied, and since you can't really both defend Doretta, get Oil Shale and gather nitra in previous rooms by yourself, teammates that don't pull they weight can really screw you over.

I might be in the minority, but Point Extraction. I am not a person who likes to speedrun, but here you're forced to, unless you want to be overwhelmed with a constant stream of bugs. And man is it a trouble to get anything bonus like plague hearts, data cubes and even machine events here.

Industrial Sabotage is neat but it's a bit long.
I personally don't enjoy Point Extraction, which is funny because I really like Refinery.
I don't mind Escorts but the amount of times I have to do them for assignments is crazy.
Egg hunts are ok but meh.

Because I hate Point Extraction so much, I've started only playing it on Haz 2. Funny thing happened though. On Haz 2, it's actually kind of fun. Just a big open cave with oodles of resources that the minehead lights up for you, that you can casually walk around and collect for however long it takes.

Sometimes a Dreadnaught shows up, so that's fun too.

I always like the missions I at one-point hate, and hate the missions I at one-point like.

Dreadnoughts r alot of fun at higher difficulties and with extra hazards.....u cant always just fight at spawn for dozens of reasons(its full of holes its complete ice its got those regening triple spike enemies) If ur doing a mission the same way mechanically each time u arent playing on a challenging enough mode or doing the different combinations of things available or really doing it efficiently to begin with frankly. Dreadnoughts r a complete afterthhought on many elimination missions when surviving everything else can be the real mission.

Just look at the basic 4 egg mission: there r so many ways to play these small missions. they last anywhere from 5m to 30m. on hazard 7 with pots of gold and a full team...u got alot to consider based on the map/team....then a crassus comes...then two detonators come at the same time...do u blow the gold or mine it for 2x goldl? do u do eggs first? clear/nitra/sec??? split the team??? and what of ur egg strategy? grab two eggs and clear then grab two and end w/o clear?; or all 4 and clear or leave?; or 1 at a time or what combo? risk the gold? risk the secondary? leave dwarves behind? AND what of nitra on the map how much risk/delay can u afford to take????? mbe u need 5x ur ammo count to clear the mobs between u and a single nitra vein. mbe there is no 80 nitra!!! OH THE HUMAnITY!!! Did I mention swarmageddon and mactera spam hazards r in play as well??? Do you make bunkers??? Where do you clear waves???? do you even clear at all???? Can the 'team' handle the clutch??!!!?

Notice how on low difficulties it really doesnt matter...u just do things the same way cause there is nothing to consider other than going to point a and then point b. Play harder missions bro. But even on easy missions for grind....why wud u fight them 1 at a time? proc all the dreads at once! u playing haz 4 and its too easy and theres a detonator on the map? well an efficient player would pop all the balloons and end the match with 1 giant explosion.....that doesnt sound like something you do tho now does it? the point is to complete objectives 'as fast as possible'. I think you still have the real game waiting for you to play it.

Mining expeditions tend to generate very long caves that you have to parkour through on the way back so I'd say those. Really don't mind the boss fights so egg/sabo isn't bad aside from coordinating with the team. Escort is kinda hard because people tend to get greedy and do other events while dotty is still on the way to the fartstone, so that's kinda lame.

All of them are fun so I can't hate any of them.

Least favourite modifier though? O2. All of the above become a massive chore while O2 is at play, especially having to chase molly on the way back of a long cave.

industrial sabotage is the obvious answer because yeah it's incredibly boring and shouldve never been moved into the regular mission pool, but having said that i can understand why someone would dislike elimination

GSG have made multiple poor changes to it over the years, not the least being shell regen speed being changed from a timer to a damage threshold. in the past, competent teams could kill a dreadnought within only one or two attempts of breaking its shell. this was a good thing because it rewarded skilled players with faster mission completion. it didn't punish new/bad players at all because they're going to need multiple cracks at the shell anyway, just like what happens now
it just pads out boss fights to be unnecessarily long and tedious. if i wanted ♥♥♥♥♥♥ "rule of 3s" boss fight design id just go play mario or something

also ♥♥♥♥ the hiveguard, absolute travesty of boss design
