Weapon mods that convert damage to fire?
Are those any good? If it converts the damage then that means the total is the same, yes? Is it only a boost against ennemies that are weak to fire or do they have other uses?

If you deal enough fire damage, the bugs bursts into flames and takes a bunch of extra damage. Or if the bug is frozen, you could use that heat to deal temperature shock, which deals 200 damage to the bug.
Grunts, once set on fire, likely will die from it. Small enemies die instantly, just like all robots.

mactera take a lot more damage to fire. large enemies like oppressors and dreads take far less. so fire is better against hordes and horde style missions more than those.

you can combine some effect with fire, gunner have an overclock for bulldog revolver who increase damage alot on burning target
driller with colette wave cooker can do heavy thermal chocwave on burning enemies

Is that threshold easily reached against weak ennemies like grunts or is that something that's really only usefull against stronger ones like praetorians?

It works well with Scout's Boomstick shotty for me, I'll say that.

Even if you miss a few pellets on a moving grunt, they'll likely die from the fire damage anyways, instead of living on a slither of hp, for example.

Yeah, but the damage you deal without the mod might kill the grunt earlier than fire with 50% damage convert.

Depends on how it's applied. If it converts into fire element, it's generally a damage plus due to many things in the game being weak to fire. Then there's heat.

Specifically:

- Napalm Infused Rounds (hurricane) do not convert damage into fire damage. Only Heat. So you're taking a 33% damage loss in order to apply the lost damage as heat. (Generally considered bad, I only run it on Jet Fuel Homebrew.)

- White Phosphorus Shells (boomstick) converts 50% of the damage into fire element, no damage loss, and additional heat equivalent to 50% of the damage is applied. (Considered good.)

- Incendiary Compound (PGL) converts 50% of the damage into heat, not damage. Due to how heat works and the PGL. (Almost always good unless you want projectile velocity. Also bugged with Hyper Propellant as it will deal full damage and apply heat. Damage loss on Fat Boy, but you're probably taking Incendiary Compound on Fat Boy to reduce friendly fire damage even further.)

- Inferno OC (breach cutter)... This one's complicated. All I remember is that it deals a special fire DOT that is separate from the on-fire DOT (so it's doing 2 fire DOTs). It also does a ton of heat damage, though I'm not certain how the conversion works since the weapon has a couple of damage types. It's not talked about much.

- Hot Bullets (minigun)... Adds 50% (of damage) as heat. No damage loss.

Thanks for detailed description. I always thought it only convert damage to heat on all weapon. Good to know that on Hyper Propellant bugged, I might use that mod from now.

The minigun mod to me feels very powerful and a nice addition, tho it needs to consume lots of ammo before you get to the point you need to balance overheating and a sweet +50% of fire damage. useful against heavier targets.
Missile mod is literally crippling your gun, i did a hazard 4 with that mod and it was NOT fun.

1. So the boomstick's mod is essentially a damage boost (assuming you can get the ennemies to combust) against everything that doesn't have fire resistance like the opressor, against whom it would be a pretty big damage nerf?

2. In the video, ennemies would catch on fire after the minigun was fired for like... a second, but the in-game description says it only applies when the meter is in the red. Does it work like in the video in game or was it sped up by a dev console or something? Is it an aoe around you/where you fire or does it apply only on the target you shoot?

Umm there is an OC "Burning Hell" what make minigun burn everything in front of you close range, but it cause the weapon overheat faster, for this case it good sinergy with "Hot Bullets" mod as reach the needed heat meter faster to the bullets also burn targets u shoot.

What would we ever do without SCamp?
twoxsp Mar 18, 2023 @ 9:09pm
The main enemies that it'll do worse against are guards which only have 15% immunity to fire damage, and oppressors which have 66% immunity to fire damage.

usually yeah long as it's not napalm rounds hurricane
only time that can be worth taking if if you plan to abuse to broken volatile bullets bulldog
