Is there actually some kind of list explaining where the names of all the ingame stuff comes from?
I know morkite is based on the Danish word for dark and the crassus bit of the crassus detonator is based on an extremely wealthy roman businessman.
But where does glyphid come from, for example? Would be fun to know, right? :)
Enormous Pearl
Bismuth
Copper
Magnetite (almost swapped the two in some cases)
Uranium
Jade
Niter
Dolomite (although it bears little resemblance in coloration, play on words with Hollow)
Dysprosium
I personally think Morkite is also a reference to Malachite, which looks quite similar due to the patinate coloration.
Haven't quite nailed down what "gold" is analogous to quite yet ;)
Aquarq sounds generally like "aqua rock", perhaps a reference to aquamarine?
"Phazyon", as I've seen pointed out by a few people, sounds like "fashion". Judging by dwarf voicelines and its intended use, that checks out.
As for glyphids, I think this is the best answer we've got:

Ebonite and Ebonuts have a much more obvious etymology, rooting from "ebony". I'd say ebonite specifically is likely comparable to dark granite.
