Microsoft Visual C++ required to be installed at every single startup
Solution
[Windows 10 Settings --> Apps --> Apps and services] Here I looked for the Visual C++ 2015 redist that was installed the same day when DRG was installed the very first time. I clicked on it --> Modify --> Repair in the popup window

Original message
Started playing DRG just a few days ago and I've been getting this error since the very first launch. Whenever I start the game and pick a DirectX version I get an error saying:
The following components are required to run this program:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
Would you like to install them now?

The very first time I installed it and the game did launch. However as soon as I want to launch the game again it keeps asking for this install every single time. The stupid thing is the second time this happened my only option was to uninstall the runtime since it was installed when I started the game a day prior. And after the uninstallation was complete the game ran perfectly fine lol. It's almost as if this runtime isn't needed at all? It seems like I only need to go through the install process itself, whatever the process is at any given time. Obviously if I pick "No" in this error popup the game won't start at all

I've been searching for hours and couldn't find any solution beyond the following few suggestions I've tried, none of which helped:
  • I was suggested to install Visual Studio
  • Editing the registry to add a new DWord value in the game's folder
  • Installing the mentioned runtime manually
  • Deleting "redist" folder in the game's folder (which for me doesn't exist in the first place)
  • Verify game files' integrity: no issues were found

So what can I do to not have deal with this annoying popoup literally every single time I want to play DRG?

Have you tried a complete reinstall of DRG?

Not yet, guess I'll try that next

Reinstalling didn't work, same error as before at launch

Do you have a Redist folder now? Try running the Visual C++ installer from it.

The folder is there now with the EXE inside. However I after some more digging I did find the solution:

[Windows 10 Settings --> Apps --> Apps and services] Here I looked for the Visual C++ 2015 redist that was installed the same day when DRG was installed the very first time. I clicked on it --> Modify --> Repair in the popup window

Now the game launches consistently without the error message or any other issues :steamhappy:

I'm surprised the solution was this simple lol like you I tried everything from the pinned post uninstall restart manual install etc and all I had to do was repair the install :cozysmitedaji:

Well yeah, I didn't expect I'd need to repair something that was installed like 10 seconds ago xD
