Is it me or Drak-25 sucks?
Without overclocks i mean. Which i have none of for this particular gun, and it seems to be lacking in its base form.
Pretty much all its got going for it is bbrrrrrrrt firerate, but i feel like im wasting ammo more than killing anything honestly. The plasma splash upgrade doesn't help that much either.

Base Drak is fine. Total damage output is roughly the same without weakpoints. More likely you aren't used to projectiles at medium-far ranges. Base GK2 with weakpoint wins out if you're perfect with it, also has better medium-long range capability with right build. Otherwise, AoE Drak does more damage to groups, is better against swarmers and has more DPS. So they are roughly even.

I generally don't consider Electric Drak or AB Drak worth considering unless you have a method to freeze enemies to maximize direct damage. AoE on Drak does mitigate some of the base spread, transforming near-misses at range (when firing at an enemy on a ceiling or a wall) into at least some some damage.

Most of the power comes from the balanced and unstable OCs altering how the Drak plays (GK2 OCs aren't as transformative) :

Clean
- TLC - Just pure QoL if you can't do basic heat management.
- Aggressive Venting - Aggressive/Defensive option similar to Minigun's AV mod. Shares similar builds with Rewiring.

Balanced
- Bouncy - Lots of AoE/single target/occular damage via bounce mechanic at the cost of small RoF malus.
- Rewiring - Heat management? LOL. 1800 ammo for magdump spamming speedy boi build.

Unstable
- OPA - Lots of damage with no mechanics but loss of accuracy and minor cooling malus.
- TEF - Lots of fire damage, but must manage heat to optimize.
- SBB - Overall stat boosts with minor cooling rate malus, but shields must be kept full. But enables semi-tanky scout builds due to shorter shield regeneration delay that doesn't require the weapon to be out (stackable with suit's regen delay reduction, make sure to take HP mod on suit to make shields smaller so you can get to full faster).

TLDR: Think of Drak as a SMG. Think of the GK2 as an AR.

With the season 4 changes I don't think OPA is ever worth picking over SBB anymore. SBB is almost pure upsides now while OPA still can't hit anything past medium range.

Originally, I saw the DRAK as a weapon that was fine without Overclocks, but lately my mind has been changing about that.

Shield Battery Booster has become a new strange and powerful baseline. +5.5 damage at full shield is... basically a 50% damage increase from stock towards single targets. Impact Deflection is about a 50% damage increase if you can shoot at something's feet, get it to take splash damage, and then hit it with the bounce. Also, was Thermal Exhaust Feedback always +12 fire damage at max? I swear I remember it being +5, but I'm probably going nuts -- either way, while you'll never be able to maintain +12, it's pretty easy to maintain fire over the 50% mark when tap firing, so I'd say it's realistic to expect it to hang out around the +6 damage mark (plus ignition).

Now, a lot of these damage boosts are conditional -- SBB isn't really a 50% increase when shooting into crowds because it doesn't increase plasma splash, and bouncy balls are hard to control, but it still feels like +50% single target damage is kind of the baseline that all these OC's have to compete against, and what stock competes against when you don't have an OC.

This is not to say stock Carbine is useless. If you use Aggressive Venting instead of Shield Battery Booster to shoot down a spitter from the ceiling and couldn't make use of your OC, it's not like you're terribly behind all of a sudden. But it does feel like there's a large difference to shooting at a Dreadnaught or an Oppressor with your SBB compared to just stock.

The only problem I have with the drak is that SBB is so good now that I forget the gk2 exists. It's either mk or drak. the gk has no business in the game anymore imho.

Current scout is weirdly balanced. Just a small number of setups really feel good. All just with mk or sbb drak.
