Have You Tried Snowball Yet?
You Should.

It's been buffed to a pretty strong point. Costs 25 ammo to freeze anything smaller than a praetorian in a range slightly larger than a cryo nade.

The second buff, which prevents enemies from warming up for a bit after being snowballed, is also huge. It's long. Long enough to repressure and shoot another snowball before they start to warm at all.

The freeze time is probably about the same, but to be able to do it in an AOE you can place at a very good range is not. Downsides are pretty minimal even if you rarely use it, too.

It's like using a sludge pump that freezes.

I was already using it on a build before it was cool. (Pun intended.)

It was already kinda decent before, if not a bit underrated. I believe i've done some solo missions in Haz 5 with snowball. Sounds like it's even... cooler.

I personally don't find it fun to use - that said, I'll agree that it's pretty good, and that people should give it try if they have it!

tried it a bit ago

it's okay

I guess you don't get very frisky with the snowballs.

We really need to stop these puns before they snowball out of control :lunar2019piginablanket:

I need to play around with cryo builds again, because I've been using the same max freeze rate build for months now, and I always forget how fun the other builds can be.

Same, but now i can actualy use it on hazard 5 without feeling like i need to compensate with my secondairy/grenade or teammates.
Snowball is in a pretty good state right now.

dumping your entire chamber pressure and using significantly more ammo than you normally would in trying to freeze a group of bugs is not worth it most of the time, even with the buffs to ammo cost. it really shouldve had a radius buff to increase the amount of enemies the snowball can hit at once (also wouldve made it a better anti mactera OC)

however, the new change where it slows enemy thawing rate does give it a valid use case. enemies like oppressors and dreadnoughts have extremely high thawing rates, meaning they only get frozen for a second or two. but with snowball you can freeze an enemy to about >%90 of its minimum temperature, hit it with the snowball, and you add a couple extra seconds to how long they stay frozen
it's not easy to do, the window for pulling it off is extremely small (given that you stop firing to charge up the snowball, which enables them to start thawing) but if you can, you can do significantly more damage to a frozen oppressor/dread than you normally would. especially if your teammates are already focusing them

I generally don't play cryo in the first place. I follow the life philosophy of "why freeze it when I can just kill it?"

Snowball does it well enough that I might change, though.

It's not really significantly more ammo any more, though. 25 for freezing a whole spawn wave isn't exactly a ton.
And, since it's it's own projectile, dumping fully into ammo doesn't have much downside.

Except if they are too far away to hit the normal way.

I'm...starting to think you don't value range at all lol? Several recent threads about Snowball, Leadspray, OPA Drak.. you always seem to favor damage over everything, and sacrifice range as if it's worthless.

Which is fine, that's a playstyle thing, and you're neither wrong or right; just making an observation. Your opinion might be a bit biased towards your playstyle is all?

Snowball does it well enough that I might change, though.

Why burn when you can kill? Why poison when you can kill? Why shock when you can kill? Why stun when you can kill?

Why kill when you can let it slowly die from a debuff without wasting ammo? And you know, not being swarmed when you get surrounded as you kill enemies one by one, is a pretty good reason to incapacitate enemies.

Not the best life philosophy, me think.

Besides, if you don't like the whole concept of freezing an enemy, and then swap weapon to kill with more speed and ammo conservation than you could ever pull off, you still have icestorm for direct damage, and instakill on freeze mod that does a really good job of killing stuff.

I have, and it’s good, BUT I love ice storm more than any other cryo OC
