Deep Rock Galactic
Finally, a fun minigun build
DISCLAMER: fun is subjective, but I have spent way to long trying to find a build that's suits me on a weapon with a freaking horrific OC roster. At least it isn't the warthogs OC roster. Man that thing has lame builds.

I did it. I finally did it. I have never spent so long obsessing over one weapon to find a build that I like. Sure, there was that one time where I had a long look at the M1K (I love SCC) but this was way more frustrating. So after testing and testing I finally found it. It is a very simple and basic build, but it works and offers some nice QoL features with it. Such as extra damage, faster spin up, and accuracy.

32313 A little more Oomph

I take accuracy in T1 because I really like it. It has always been my favorite T1 upgrade and continues to be my favorite to this day.

I take damage in T2 because I'm %99 sure that it is better than ammo.

Blowthrough in T3 is a no-brainer.

Variable pressure chamber in T4 because it works well with the build.

Hot bullets in T5 because I find the Miniguns T5 to be supper lame so I just took this for some added damage.

When I used this build I had fun. Fun! I hadn't had this much fun with the minigun in a while. I'm gonna continue to use this build for the next couple of missions so I can get better used to it. I'm happy with my work.

Now I should probably go to sleep.

What's a... minigun? You sure you didn't mean to say you use the Autocannon with Neurotoxin?

I've used multiple minigun builds and the only one I refuse to use is anything involving the Lead Storm OC. I've used lots of rotary cannons in video games, and gotten used to their unrealisitcally long firing delay. Most minigun builds in DRG are quite fun for me.

It's such a pitty Lead Storm OC completely removed the minigun's invaluable ability to stun. I could deal with the movement restrictions, but once the stun got removed it just wastes ammo and time on guards while making you much more vulnerable against multiple ranged enemies and menaces.

Makes OCs like this so much more appealing and reliable in comparison now, while Lead Storm OC is pretty much just shelved until boss fights.

Reading this comment made me nearly die of cringe.

Hurricane for life.

Honestly, I think Lead storm is still one of, if not the best OC for the minigun. Why stun things when you can mow em down with an extremely bland OC?

More just the enemies I mentioned. You'll get a faster TTK on guards due to having access to the weakpoint, you'll be able to mow down multiple ranged targets or a menace without having to switch to a secondary and build up your minigun accuracy again every time.

That plus anything that gets a close flank on you like a slasher, you'll have that defensive stun. You really don't want to be slashed while using LS OC.

Thanks for the thread. I needed to freshen-up my old Minigun build.

I tend to stick to one primary at a time. But it's always good to check under the hood every once in a while to see if everything is set just right.

GSG gave you a total of 6 loadout slots so you can quickly swap between them, plus you can quickly swap the weapons of your loadout. I often swap loadouts after every mission.

I will stand by my beloved 2,2,3,2,1 compact feed mechanism minigun till GSG finally gives the OG primaries some less bland OCs

having a ton of ammo on a minigun is crazy fun because you just get to unload bullets indiscriminately without worrying much about counting ammo

No problem.

I wish they gave loadout slots for individual weapons. Not the whole loadout itself.

LSLS hits some weird ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ breakpoint in its DPS where playing LSLS is like playing any other minigun build with critical weakness, at least on the smaller stuff
Minigun DPS math 2complex4me, I don't know exactly how much damage is needed to decapitate an grunt in 1 nanosecond
no LS^2 no go

I prefer armor break over blowthrough. Quite underrated.

oomph is what I run most frequently as well; any damage it loses compared to Lead Storm (its closest competition) is made back via its consistency, reliability of stuns, and not completely removing your ability to cleanly make minor corrective movements. It strikes the nicest balance between damage and convenience of the minigun OCs. Even in the scope of Elimination and Sabotage, I’ve found I get more mileage offensively and defensively. The enemy has to be completely cooperative and nonthreatening for LS to be a clear win - and where it isn’t, you’re probably not in trouble in the first place and could run maximum damage Lead Spray BRT7 or something. Armor Break vs. Blowthrough is honestly something I flip according to mission; barely get any value from Blowthrough during complexity 3 caves, but then it’s invaluable in cramped mission types like Salvage or obviously where armor break doesn’t matter at all like Sabotage.

But that’s just in the scope of finding what works “best”. I’ve had a good time with most of the minigun OCs and most of its performance issues only really show in haz5. Exhaust Vectoring and Burning Hell can be very satisfying in Swarmageddon

I'm surprised no one's said Bullet Hell.

I've got three different Minigun loadouts I tend to swap between, but Bullet Hell is pretty great. I used to go Blowthrough Rounds for the potential to hit 3 targets per bullet, until I saw how handy the Improved Stun mod was, and since then Bullet Hell has become my control/suppression loadout. Amazing against Haz5/EDD Mactera, since it stops several of them from firing simultaneously without relying solely on a shield.

Bullet Hell also has one very unique quirk: with bullet bouncing, it's much easier to see where the next enemy is. I'll often spray, only to see bullets darting to my side where there's a slasher next to me, or behind a ridge which lets me know new enemies are coming from there. I'll sometimes even fire it at the ceiling in a new room, and it'll reveal the health bar of leeches and other enemies that lurk in the dark.

Overall, the Minigun is one of few weapons that just doesn't have any bad OC's. All the cleans have good upsides, the balanced work well based on personal preference, and the unstables are high-impact for the downsides they come with. If you're just getting into OC's and get a Hurricane OC, there's about a 4/7 chance that the OC you get is either bad or completely changes your playstyle compared to stock, which you may not want, but the Minigun will always be reliable no matter what you pick up.
