Game Keeps Randomly Freezing
I've only noticed this about two days ago, it's not that my computer is bad, I've lowered my graphics too
I get roughly 120FPS when I'm playing the game, and then randomly it will just freeze, and when I go on the pause menu it goes to about 15FPS, is this a common issue?
(Specs if it's important:
12th Gen i7
16GB RAM
3060RTX)

When you say "freeze" what do you mean? Does the game completely stop responding or are you able to access the menu? Do you still have audio? Does this happen solo or just while playing online?

When I mean "freeze" the screen freezes, monsters are still active and the game is still running, just the FPS is at 0 it seems. And what do you mean "the menu?" I do still have audio. And it happens in both solo and online games.

By menu I mean the pause menu, since you mentioned it in your original post. When you hit 'esc' does it let you access the menu and leave the lobby or close the game?

What type of RAM do you have?

Isn't there a setting for in-game FPS and menu FPS? A lot of games have those and I dont remember if DRG is one of those or not. Should probably make sure your max menu FPS isn't 15 if that's the case lol.

It lets me access the menu, and I don't know if there is a setting for menu FPS

Check if the GPU driver is updated
Also keep an eye on temps and loads while playing, i don't know the graphic settings you are using but "roughly 120 fps" sounds sub-optimal for your system.
Try running the game in DX11 or 12 (depending on the one you are using now just to see what happen)

Odd. Sounds like your game is crashing but still letting you access the menu. That's not something i've ever encountered or seen before. This started two days ago? There hasn't been any updates to the game recently so that's odd. Have you charged anything about your pc recently that may have caused this? Updated drivers, swapped hardware, etc.?
Some basic troubleshooting you can try is verifying the game files. If that doesn't help you can do a clean reinstall of the game. Go to Steam > Steamapps > Common > Deep Rock Galactic > FSD > Saved > SaveGames and backup your saves. Then uninstall the game, deleting the Deep Rock Galactic folder. Then reinstall.

Checking to see if other games having this issue would also be good to know.

No, this is DRG specific. I mean, over the past two days I have seen a noticeable decrease in FPS in all games, but that's about it. I'll have to try the clean reinstall tomorrow.

NVIDIA Debug mode is a one click thing you can try.

It is one of my more favorite things to try because it is easy. 😎👌

Your firewall could be interfering with the direct connection to the host's computer. If things are still moving and you are able to move and shoot but can't do any damage and what not, this can mean your desyncing from the host, so the game doesn't actually crash. That issue generally is related to your internet connection and can be many reasons such as firewall. If your using a shared wifi this can occur if someone in your home starts taking a large chunk of bandwidth and you may need to get a router that has more lanes and or upgrade your bandwidth.

If your seeing a noticeable decrease in FPS in all games, this could indicate a different issue. The first thing to try in that case would be to run a malware scan on a scanner that is rated high for detecting malware. Some virus scanners aren't the best for malware so do some research online to see what areas your virus scanner is good in, as many are poor for malware detection.

I've done a good uninstall and reinstall on the game, that seems to have fixed my DRG freezing. Although I am wondering if my game performance is sub-optimal for my specs, and my FPS has been noticeably worse in the past couple of days, is there anything else I should be doing?

One of your previous comments said your fps was worse across all games. If so, then it's probably not DRG specific. I would look to see if there were any recent updates to your PC. Maybe a nvidia driver auto installed or something of the like.
As far as DRG does, nvidia ansel is known to cause fps issues in the community so you could look into disabling that. There's also DLSS and FSR support in game.
