Maybe make some friends and play video games with them.
However, being really melodramatic and saying the game sucks and is no fun without something to work towards is...well it's naturally going to attract that kind of thing. I also think the game is less fun when my promotions mean nothing and I already did my weeklies, having that kind of content be there is almost asking people to fixate on it like that. But I'm not gonna cry about how it's "ruined forever" or anything. The game's still a lot of fun and I'll still play it. We all inevitably reach the point of having everything anyway eventually, at which point it does become about purely playing for fun.
I certainly wouldn't have stuck with it for 400+ hours if I didn't love the core gameplay, and I still love it. I do think it's reasonable to examine how people have different mindsets about what they want from games, though, and that it DOES feel different to have a goal you can't progress towards vs. not having a set goal in mind at all.
Though to be fair...when the whole discussion STARTS with people crying about the game being ruined forever, maybe that kind of nuance was never going to happen.
I wouldn't overthink it... It basically comes down to "Why do I want to play this game?" If you cannot find a reason to play it today, or ever again, then that's fine. Set it aside and play something else. if anyone asks you "why" you don't play it, by all means give your 3 page opinion and analysis.
It's fine to put suggestions out there, though I'd recommend using the Suggestions thread. Creating a whinge post about how the game is broken, wah wah wah, no matter how well thought out your couch software developer argument is, about all it is going to accomplish is having people calling you out as a whiner and don't let the door hit you on the way out. There is a distinct difference from "Man, I wish it didn't take X hours to unlock overclocks" or "Any suggestions on how to make the game more challenging?" and "Thanks dev for fixing the only exploit that made this game bearable" or "This game is too easy, why does anyone even bother playing it, I'm falling asleep here you plebs."
No one forces anyone to play DRG, or to *not* play DRG... Criticising the game, then criticising the community as "toxic" just because they don't act as a shoulder for someone to cry on is lame, so we poke some fun at it and a few of the whingers get some Steam points out of it for their troubles.
Fair enough, haha.
I see your point. These kinds of posts aren't made in good faith to begin with.
it helps quite a lot that there's a stack of directed stuff to do on the way to that point.
in my case, now that i'm mostly out of assignments and don't have the ability to actively work towards long-term progression beyond what the timers permit, my activity has slowed a lot. i can see how it'd be more severe for other people.
Something must be very wrong with me, right OP?
