i think the current overclock distribution is incredibly flawed, and i personally wouldn't blame someone for wanting to cheat the system, but rules are rules and you can't really be openly encouraging people to cheat just because you dislike the system
i will say though, perhaps all the people turning a blind eye to - or even encouraging - the use of cheats will eventually get GSG to realise literally nobody likes timegating
Then he would have to have said the same or reported the discussions and instructions on how to achieve the promotion exploit before it was patched out. My point being is that he didn't.
A. How do you know I didn't report it?
B. When and where I choose to inform people of a rule and/or report them is my discretion, and is based on many factors; none of which I'm obliged to explain to you.
Judging by how you announced here what rule you thought was being broken, it's reasonable to think you did not report the discussion I am referring to. I never said it wasn't your discretion. I don't see the issue considering your attempt to flame me with your assumption on me being upset at you from a previous interaction.
exploits =/= cheats
regardless of chibbity's actions in past discussions, openly advertising the use of 3rd party programs is invariably more risky. it's against the rules not just cos its cheating but cos you could easily get stupid ppl downloading viruses onto their computer trying to cheat
im not trying to beef with u specifically; i speak from experience as a kid who downloaded an infinite money generator for club penguin and then had to tearfully explain to my dad why the PC wouldn't boot due to a virus
The rule cited mentions all 3(hacks/exploits/cheats), not just cheats. The rule for cheating doesn't have anything to do with preventing viruses on your computer, that fault is on the user alone.
The only cheat discussion I have seen action against are the discussion of cheats that bypass paid content(which is stealing) and ones that give an advantage to the user in any competitive setting. The save editor being discussed here is only bypassing a time gate(like the exploit) but all at once instead of just at a faster pace. It also can only give blank cores(AFAIK) so the user will still have to grind missions to create the cores. Ironically, it gives the player more incentive to keep playing since they have all the blanks they need and just pick and craft them. They don't have to wait for a weekly reset to get more.
Cool. Then we wait and see if this will be classified as such due to the nature of what it provides being removing the timegate and not giving an advantage to the player over others.
Oh, it looks like I was correct on what 'backseat moderating' meant.
He was agreeing with me lol, which is why he quoted me and then said:
Yes. Which you said "by that logic, literally any mention of a rule would be "backseat moderating"."
He, as a mod, sees it like that based on Steam's listed rules. He, as a mod, however does not enforce it in that way because he doesn't feel he needs to.
Bruh, he's on my Friends list lol; I know what he meant.
Oh, I see.
I'm E-famous, don't be jelly.
