After all, whats the point of spending time and effort on making cosmetics when the majority of the playerbase will never see them?
I do wonder if there could be another incentive for players to keep playing the game, other than the insane amount of unlockables and ofcourse fun.
We do have ranks already, as well as titels. Prehaps something more in that direction.
Take Player A, who's just enjoying the game. --> "There's Limited Time Content! If you don't do it now then you won't be able to get it, EVER!" --> "Dang, I should drop whatever my other plans were and do this content now."
Game That Totally Doesn't Have FOMO I Swear Guys Not Even A Single Percent flow chart
Take Player A, who's just enjoying the game --> "There's Limited Time Content! If you don't do it now then you'll need to grind 200 hours to get it!" --> "Well, I probably won't be playing the game for 200 hours. Dang, I should drop whatever my other plans were and do this content now."

Still isn't FOMO.
That's fomo even if it's lighter than usual.
To be fair, i would have it if i knew about the game sooner, but that could be said for most games battlepasses though.
Though yeah, it is hard to get previous season content. And the crates aren't even the hardest part, the ones that got added to matrix cores are even worse. If you see something on the current tree you want then you should really go for it now instead of hoping you'll be able to pick it up later.
Crates don't even have headgear.
you're doomed
you're dooooooomed
The matrix cores are consistent unlike those crates.
And are you sure about that? I'v seen a list online where it stated that some past seasonal ones are in fact in the loot crates.
Weapon frames and victory poses go to crates.
Pickaxe parts and armour skins go to packs.
Hats/moustaches/beards go to either matrix cores or the shop.
I feel like there's a pattern for whether they get put in as an overclock or put in the store based on the performance pass, but I've never actually sat down and looked.
All memory tells me is that the ones I want typically wind up in the overclock section.
FOMO means something is going away, and either isn't coming back, or may come back in such a way you won't be able to get it even when it does.
Grind is when you need to put time into getting something, and is usually used when it takes a high amount of time.
DRG has limited time seasons, which have their items take an increased amount of grinding to obtain if you don't get them in that time frame. Therefore, not FOMO, since you will get those items provided you play long enough. It can be extremely grindy though, and I agree that cargo crates are over-filled. They should probably add a third find-able, alongside packs and crates, to increase the rate you find everything.
They even added the fancy pink mineral that exists purely to buy cosmetics because people are unable to budget their resources properly.
They should in my opinion merge the common cosmetics you have to buy for each class separately. This will decrease the number of cosmetics too. I would also like to be able to equip any armor on any dwarf in the base game. I would also like to decrease or remove randomness on OCs (and that one is for newer players because I have them all so it does jack for me).
But honestly devs will never satisfy everyone. The moment they implement my wishes there will threads about "I unlocked everything, pls add more because my brain needs dopamine" and if they do it will be "too much stuff, FOMO FOMO (again, wrong phrase you fools), how long do you expect me to play this" again.
Yeah , 500 hours or completely missing out isn't that far from each other. Let's just call it Fomo lite?
