Camera Shake
Can we get an option to disable Camera Shake/View Bobbing completely?

The current settings only reduces it, but you can't turn it off completely. Camera Shake only goes to 25% at lowest, and View Bobbing goes to 0% but is still present for some reason.

For those unaware, Camera Shake/View Bobbing (pretty much any instance of the camera moving without the player moving it) can cause headaches/discomfort in some people. This has been a known thing for decades, and why many games have an option to disable it.

Small amounts I can usually tolerate, but for whatever reason this game has a lot of it.
Every hit of the pickaxe, every reload animation, every time you hit something during a repair/construct animation, etc. It's hard to avoid.

Weapon recoil can also be a problem on certain weapons, the most severe example being the Thunderhead which makes the camera violently shake while firing. I like the Thunderhead, but can only use it for short periods of time. Weirdly though, I have noticed that the extreme camera shake of the Thunderhead doesn't seem to be present when you jump while firing it, which helps but is merely a work around.

The beer drinking animation may also be an issue, when your Dwarf drinks a beer they lift the beer mug up to their face and then tilts their head back (again, any instance of the camera moving without the players input can cause discomfort). I don't think this quite falls under Camera Shake or View Bobbing, but is related to the issue. Perhaps have an option for an additional drinking animation were the camera is static.

I really like DRG, but the camera shake and how common it is can make it an uncomfortable experience for me (and I assume others). An option to disable Camera Shake/View Bobbing completely would be greatly appreciated.

I'd prefer to not have to resort to mods for something that should be in the game as standard.

That's a nice sentiment, but the reality is that you can use those or suffer; no offense.

The modding menu is in game, and it's as easy as pointing and clicking; and you can use those mods in any lobby.

There really is no reason not to use them.

Then suggest it in the right subforum (suggestions forum) and use this mod in the meanwhile. The developers normaly add quite a lot of things that make this game playable for most, so there is a good chance this will get added if you ask nicely.

Other than that, like Chibbity said, its in your own hands to use the mod or not.

There are many visual and UI changes in the verified family of mods that baffled me weren't official options. As quick as some might be to point out that installing the mods is easy and sanctioned (or else they would not be verified), there's been some strange performance issues associated with leaving modding functionality on, so there is merit to the default game being kinder with its settings.

I'd say there's basically no problem with using mods... From what I saw, this is one of the least suspicious EULAs I have ever seen.

No, must nail a shock combo while the game's lagging from particle spam, I'm dashing downhill and someone pulled an alien egg from a wall so the screen's shaking

NeuroVoider's EULA is even less suspicious than that.

Anyways, +1 to this feature request. It should be a standard part of the game, and usually have camera shake or head bob disabled in most games I play because I find it to be an unnecessary distraction.
