Did you ever use the Wave Cooker for anything but thermal shock and if yes - why?
Was it good?

As always I have a "Are Driller's secondaries good or bad in design and whatever" crisis.

I just use his secondaries for finishing off enemies or long range pot shots so that`s what I`ve used that gun for so far.

I'm running a DOT crazy build with Sludge Pump and Gamma Contamination.

It's pretty effective.

I consider it trash tier for actual dmg dealing w.o. temp shock.
You can inflict some dmg by using gamma contamination (aoe radiation) or support with blisters from blistering necrosis.

Outsides of these, its at best very light dmg from directfire to light dmg with boiler ray.

I run 33111 with Gamma. I use it alongside my sludge pump, and it lets me inflict a ton of status effects and slow down everything to a standstill. It's my favourite build in the entire game.

The reason most builds use exothermic reactor is because it synergises with both the flamethrower and cyro cannon. If using the sludge pump, contagion transmitter usally becomes the T5 instead. The cooker combos with every driller primary. If someone is building for straight damage, they probably wouldn't use the cooker, but rather something like subta with explosive reload (that said, boiler ray and blistering necrosis could probably do something interesting).

Even without temp shock it's effective vs swarmers and naedocytes, and sniping individual web/acidspitters. That's mainly what I use it for, beyond just swapping to it if I run out of primary ammo or don't have the time to reload.

With boiler mod it can be hitscan C4, despite being AOE it benefits from frozen status so cryo is natural combo for it. If you have blister OC you can proc boiler on them as well.

You can configure it to be whatever except for an actually good direct damage automatic weapon (I guess they say "sustain"). The best uses are temperature (I just blow through everything on max freeze and then pop them all) and stacking damage over time though.

Beside temp shock i use it for blisters and to kill far away annoyances (swarmers , spitters , jellies) And due to its small FF i can shoot at general direction of my far away teammate that is currently struggling with said annoyances to help them out.

I usually use it as a weapon for applying radiation DOTs and/or as something for mass-popping grunts/swarmers with Boiler Ray. OCs: Gamma Contamination and Mega Power Supply; I haven't tried Diffusion Ray for popcorning things. I treat it as a long range SMG.

My "weird" build for elimination missions is primarily when I'm not using Sludge and Subata is just slapping the Tier 3 slow mod on it and using it help the team kite dreads/bulks/nemesis/lottagrunts from a distance. OCs: Diffusion Ray, Gamma Contamination, Blistering Necrosis.

Blistering Necrosis can combo super well with the ripper on bigger enemies - stack a few up on a Twin and let a ripper go and you can almost 1-shot them.

^ Pretty much this, I do a similar thing with Mega Power Supply. One will have more ammo, the other will have more DPS. You can use the slowdown feature of Colette to help lock things down in AoE zones, and it can add DoTs with Gamma Contamination or Contagion Transmitter.

It's actually pretty versatile, there are a lot of good OCs and builds. I also like the perfect accuracy and ability to switch to wide mode and laugh at Swarmers and Naedocytes. I feel like if you take the Sludge Gun, you should pretty much always take Colette. It helps make up for the few weaknesses of the Sludge gun like lacking a spray-style primary.

I find that it's pretty okay at taking out Q'ronar younglings, at least with my MPS temp shock build, which is nice because my Cryo primary can't deal with them.

Using the Wave Cooker with Boiler Ray in combination with Cryo is just about as effective as temp shock. In fact, it's probably better because it doesn't remove the frozen status. This setup is likely even better with Blistering Necrosis to gain more damage to trigger boiler ray more quickly, but I prefer Mega Power Supply for the more ammo and firerate. The Wave Cooker is one of the few AoE weapons that benefits from frozen status, and Boiler Ray still triggers from frozen targets.

My build for this is 32222 with Improved Thermal Efficiency, and 11222 with Mega Power Supply.

I haven't messed around with it too much, but Blistering Necrosis in combination with Sludge Blast/VIM is also good, especially for elimination.

Blistering Necrosis makes it a stupidly powerful support tool. Even if you're not running temp shock. But you can do both, which is stupidly broken.

1. Use Blistering Necrosis and Sludge Blast sludge pump
2. Put 2 or more boils on a big target, like an Oppressor
3. Shoot blisters point-blank with sludge blast
4. It dies instantly

It's so stupid. And you can run flame or cryo and instead have your allies make use of the blisters while you make use of temp shock.

Then, the weapon damage is still good enough to pick off Spitters and even stuff like Mactera.

It's quickly become my favorite Driller secondary. Sorry, Subata.

You need like 15 for an oppressor.
