Lost Helmets?
How do you guys farm lost helmets/gear?
I swear the last time I've seen a helmet was like 2 weeks ago.
Either I'm extremely blind/unlucky or the elves stole 'em.

I usually hear them before I see them. They’re easy to miss though, so it’s down to vigilance and luck.

We don't, we just play the game for fun; and the rewards come.

They are a random loot event in missions like crates. When any mission generates, you got a chance to get it.

If you want to "farm" them solo I suggest playing as Driller and either speedrunning mining or point-extract missions. Both have easy layouts. However, note that speedrunning skips on resources and secondary objectives.

Just play normally with focus on Mining and/or Point Extract. Don't force yourself, though.

This. You'll get everything eventually. The most important grind is the weekly Core/DD grind for blanks and weapon OCs.

I think a way to do this is by starting up a solo point extraction mission as Scout, and quickly search the cave. If you don't find anything, abort the mission and try again and hopefully get lucky. Rinse and repeat. Also useful for crates and machine events as well, I'd imagine.

If you're looking exclusively for helmets/crates, i'd suggest just doing a bunch of super short Hazard 3 egg hunts/salvage missions, and playing as scout for mobility and flares. Also, maybe consider raising SFX volume or finding a mod to change or otherwise make the cosmetic callout noises more apparent, since they are very easy to miss in the depths of Hoxxes. :steamhappy:

Yup, Haz 3+ salvage missions were the ones that had lost gear and cargo crates the most.
Going as Scout, this might just be the way to do it.

Extractions are always just one big cave right? Completely forgot, that might be useful

Oh yeah I don't really pay much attention and actively seek them out, but sometimes I boot up the game with literally no objective left to complete, so I just farm cosmetics.
The question is more about trying to understand where or in which mission the stuff would most likely appear.
I've heard something about the length or maybe complexity of the cave increasing the chance of it appearing, and now see a lot of mentions about extract, so I'm just trying to piece the things together.
Either way, thanks for the intel

I've opened lost packs by accident just blindly tunneling places or EPC'ing the ceiling for no reason

The gear doesn't spawn until you complete the scan, so you still need to find the helmet.

Join my game, I played 6 matches today and had 3 lost packs, 3 machine events, 1 cargo and a hacking event.

Unless they changed that recently, it does.

It seems possible to find the pocket with nothing inside. I assumed that means that this is where the lost gear would have gone if the map had it.

At the end of every mission I check the map for anything unexplored. Usually I don't spot any odd pockets anywhere, so I'm kind of uncertain that your pocket strategy works. When I do have lost equipment markers to follow they're always in a black spot on the map nearby an explored section. I'm shocked you've had that kind of luck.
