A few tips:
After you deplete its first bar, it will start spawning the healing pods. Of course, focus them first.
Save your power attacks for the core. It is very weak to melee so you'll be saving quite a bit of ammo if you use it then.
The heads stop attacking if they're hit by any damaging status effect, including fire, electricity, and toxin.
The core opens when there are 2 heads+healing pods left, do NOT trigger the opening if you're not in position to deal damage to the core or you'll miss out on a damage phase, and thus waste ammo on killing more heads/healing pods.
If it's in a terrible position, try to not fight it in the first place.
Also, dropping a ressuply on it is not effective or efficient. I have tried and was severely disappointed. If you're looking to kill enemies in an unconventional way, I'd recommend sticking to killing bulk detonators with your pickaxe.
Thanks to my famous "luck" it's always in a terrible position where its very hard to fight and in areas where avoiding it is also difficult.
A good driller can absolutely trivialise it by drilling into the walls around the seed and periodically opening holes so people can shoot through it while also having cover. If cryo, well you don't really even need to do that as you can just freeze everything in sight while your team melts it. But, this all heavily depends on where the thing spawned and sightlines, so this is just general advice.
The most obvious piece of advice I can give is just don't die, especially in somewhere incredibly stupid. It can be difficult to revive you and just kills all momentum in the fight. Stick together, be close to the seed at all times, and be ready to shoot/melee it the second it opens.
Really, it depends on how many players you have.
4 players? Not worth it, only skips 1 or 2 shell openings.
Solo or 2 players? Absolutely, instantly shatters over 2 of its 3 health bars.
3 players is where the decision becomes tricky, and depends on if you’re low on ammo (crushing it does indeed save a large amount of ammo).
I just instantly restart if i see it spawn early in the mission when still alone.
Also more than once i had the heart spawn way too far away from the sprouts for some reason .. once it even caused CTD when i aggrod a oddly spawned Korlok like this.
always have someone on heal pod duty, you never want heal pods out for even a few seconds
power attack the weed core after some burst damage has hit it, since it'll try and close up but this'll let you slap it for some extra damage before it becomes immune
if you have turret whip position sentries right infront of the weed core and whip them as it opens up, you'll do insane burst damage
and lastly: Hyper propellant is busted for killing tyrant weed

The only thing this boss can do to damage you is the Sprout Fireballs. They are all stationary. Memorize their positions and they can't hurt you.
Every class has options.
Driller: Flame the sprouts, Drill and sculpt terrain for your advantage. Drill/Impact Axes are melee, the Weed Heart is weak to Melee........go WILD. Also, C4 the Heart so when it opens. Boom.
Scout: Stay back, light the place up, and be on Healing Pod duty. No healing pods? Snipe a Sprout. Otherwise, wait, let team fight Sprouts, and stay on look out for those healing pods and use mobility and superior positioning to take them out.
Engineer: Set up turrets by the Heart. Place Platforms to ensure advantageous light of sight to Sprouts. Has great secondary options for hurting the Heart, I prefer the PGL, specifically Hyper Propellant, though Nukes/anything is great for Tyrant Weed. Also, Proximity mines can be set up before hand w/o aggroing the Weed.
Gunner: Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
The hardest part about this fight is making sure all players present are aware of the Healing Pod mechanic. That is what makes the Korlok Tyrant Weed an ammo/damage sponge and drags out the fight prolonging it.
Really it will go dormant again?
driller and engi can do a lot to make even the worst room into a fun combat arena
soldier has good DPS at range so he can pretty mutch always get good damage in wen needed
and scout well he is a scount he doesn't know what bad terain means since he can just ignore it by grapling around
