Deep Rock Galactic
Stuttering, Audio glitch, Freezing pc
Hello,

Less than a few years ago, I finished my pc build

x570 Plus Tuf gaming

5800x Ryzen

6900xt Sapphire

Few ssd's, Corsair AIO and few fans

Randomly my pc started stuttering and audio glitching random games at random times, almost like if you are watching youtube and you hold down spacebar for 2-3 seconds, That's the glitch. I left a memory test a few hours running with no issues. 3D benchmark for 5-10 loops stress test and it was okay.

When it happens everything spikes. FPS, Utilisation of GPU/CPU and so on, no idea what it could be. I reser completely and wiped everything on windows 10 and nothing. I reset everything and put windows 11, and already Deep Rock Galactic was stuttering at the very beggining. It got fixed with Snappy Driver Installer or either AMD Chipsed installer, no idea. But now it does it evey single time I tab out of the game.

I am losing my mind and patience, considering throwing everything in the trash and losing all the money. Please help

Disable master EQ?
- Can cause issues.

Audio device type? Is it USB?
- USB devices can have issues if there are allot of USB devices on the same USB controller.

Sample rate not above 192Khz?
- Game has issues with some high end audio devices that can go above 192Khz.

I know Ryzen 3000 at release on X570 had some audio stutter issues. I would assume since you have a 5800x that the bios is probably updated to the "Patch"

I had similar issues/symptoms due to harddrive problem. Try putting DRG onto a different HD or even just partition. Switching partitions solved it for me.

with that limited info it's hard to say. If I understand correctly this issue occurs with all of your games and not just DRG.

Assuming you've gone to the manufactures website and installed the correct and latest drivers and bios

It could be a XMP profile, CPU/GPU OC that's not playing nice. Could be you picked ram that isn't compatible with your MB/CPU. No idea with the limited info you provided. Check to see if your ram is listed here:

Could be corrupt SSD. Have you tried running a check disk? Is your SSD close to being full?

Does your power supply have enough wattage for your build? Without knowing all of your build I'm seeing 700 - 800 watts needed

Have you checked and made sure your temps are good?

as for tabbing out, IDk, maybe a ram issue? Thats one of the key items you didn't even list

I just recently started having issues as well, came here about to ask if some update screwed things up or something. Mostly just a lot of stuttering during the mission for what seems like no reason at all. One game someone was using the sludge pump, and while I did always have a bit of a hit, it's basically unplayable at this point. Will let you know if I find anything, but I think my computer is just getting old...

TUF B450-Plus
Ryzen 7 2700
GeForce RTX 2070
16GB ram

run the program latencymonitor (latmon) and leave it upw hilst gaming, it will tell you what driver is malfunctioning or causing high latency / audio cutouts then google the info you get

So master EQ isn't the issue, I had those speakers for years, spdi/f and its own subwoofer and plug. It's not an audio issue. My game freezes randomly (deep rock, red dead redemption, watching YouTube etc) when my pc freezes it loops the last sound played like it's stuck and my mouse goes all stuttery and everything spikes.

No overclocks, everything stock with up to date software, drivers, motherboard version, chipset and the lot. I tried xmp, off and on, 3600 and 3800mhz. I checked before buying and the ram was on the list. My drives are all empty!! Haha I don't get it! Nothing is full and I'll try a disk check, but I doubt it. Windows is on an nvme, separately there's 2 games SSD literally empty. I have an 850w PSU and it does it even when playing hecking Mario at this point, it can't be down on power. Temps are fantastic nothing, and I mean nothing (even GPU junction temperature goes past 85°C). Ram seems fine, if it was ram it would tell me I'm sure? 3Dmark was fine.

And okay thank you for the suggestion of the latency app thingy

Can this be the case of my ram is in slot 2-4 and not 1-3?

I have a YouTube short video for you to check out

I'd try memtest and changing the ram into slots 1-3 just to be safe, I've had issues like this happen with certain audio drivers or more commonly it can be a ram issue! So yeah I think try memtest and try latmon and see if you get any clues from them! I'd also check the temperatures of your components

pretty sure that's a mechanical failure, try moving the RAM slots and the tests!
Devastator4520 Aug 9, 2022 @ 4:14am
Switched everything off, changed my ram from slot 2-4 to slot 1-3.

Pc is working, RGB are okay

Video card RGB is now off

Pc won't show me anything on the screen, it says nothing detected for display port 2, no sound for Windows either. I tried changing ram around, so the first on the 3 and the 3 on the first, nothing

Changed the ram back to slots 2-4 and it's working okay.

I would like to remind that my pc has been doing this glitch randomly.

Then I moved to Windows 11 and so far, it has only done it with Deep Rock. I tried Green Hell and I can tab out, played for about 30 min. Tried Bad North and I can tab out as well.

Now this glitch is as far as I can tell atm, only happening when I tab out of Deep Rock

run memtest, the fact it wouldnt work in the other ports is indicating an issue to me !

I will try the test soon.

Isn't that an issue with the motherboard? That you have to use first 2-4 and then the other? Like a specific motherboard preference? I don't know but again I have few more questions.

If it was RAM, wouldn't I get the blue screen?
Same for CPU? I would get some kind of error?
GPU, nvme, SSD? I have no idea what's going on

Could it be dust? The only thing that it could be is a Power Supply, obviously there would be no way for the pc to tell me that's going wrong right?

It's quite hard for me to tell without seeing it but if you go back to square one in trying to fix the issue the common steps would be to try and pinpoint when the problem started to occur and what had recently changed last leading up to that failure, the ram should work in all the slots which might mean the motherboard is or has become defective possibly? But the first things would be to look at RAM, disk drives, cpu and gpu for failure and sometimes aswell it can be an issue with the power supply, but honestly ram can either be great and workk for years or totally rubbish out of the box it's just one of those things sadly !
The thing that makes me think it's a RAM failure is the looping audio because it's getting stuck either transferring it from the disk to the ram ( the audio stream) or the cpu accessing the ram - kinda simplifying massively here but you might know where im coming from

Yes the MB user manual will tell you what slots to use for how many sticks you have. For 2 sticks your MB manual says to use slots 2 and 4 (DIMM_A2 and DIMM_B2)

https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/TUF_GAMING_X570-PLUS/E15235_TUF_GAMING_X570-PLUS_UM_WEB.pdf

It's worth mentioning that every update/patch that happens to the game requires you to build new shaders. This means every time you try a weapon/grenade/whatever for the first time your game will stutter while shaders are built and saved in the shader cache. After that initial build, for that specific weapon/grenade/whatever the stuttering should be gone until the next update.

Also your selected DX will reset to whatever GSG has selected as the default after updates/patches as well. For your hardware i'd suggest DX12
