Is scout bad?
Greenbeard here. He's fun, but I feel like he doesnt contribute as much as the other classes.

Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Scout isn't the strongest bug killer, but he can hold his own, and nobody is better at supporting the team by lighting up the area, getting hard-to-reach resources, or taking out high-priority targets.

That build makes it hard for me to play any other class its so OP.

Well, I just played scout and zoomed around, getting Nitra and reviving my team 13 times... Every Class has its moments :P

His massive mobility allows him to escape almost any dangerous situation and to kite dangerous enemies away from less-mobile teammates like Gunner.

He's balanced compared to the other classes.

High mobility/Medium utility/Low offense.

No good team ever leaves the Space Rig without a Scout.

He's good for baiting Dreadnoughts away from Gunner and the others.

Also, lights. If you play Scout you better use that flare gun.

Other than that, eh, he's not great but not bad either. More of a support class.

Personally I started with Engie. That one seems safe to me. Place platform for scout and use your turrets.

Any of Scout's grenades can turn the tide of an enemy push. The flare gun is constantly underutilized and underappreciated, and his weapons are accurate and reliable, even if they struggle to keep up on higher hazard levels.

It depends what you want to do during a game of DRG.

If you want to keep the caves well-lit, move faster than any other class, explore faster than any other class, Scout is the best.

If you want to kill anything at any range, protect your teammates, and set up ziplines, Gunner is the best.

If you want to set up proximity mines, place your turret(s), use nukes, fire a smart gun, and make platforms, Engineer is the best.

If you want to burn/freeze/dissolve every hostile, blast mine the caves, make your own tunnels very quickly, then Driller is the best.

Scout can harvest and deposit stuff quicker and from hard to get places. With engies platforms its easy but between hoverboots perk and getting used to making hole in a wall as you fly in with power attack experienced scout can get most up-high minerals and secondary objectives alone. Its significant boon to a team - more nitra for ammo found, less ammo spent on timed bug spawns.
Guns arent great against hordes but mobility is and Scout can evade everything while focusing most dangerous stuff and reviving splash beasts like driller or engie that will (should) obliterate clumped grunts/macteras/swarmers in few blasts during post revive invulnerability.

Speaking Strong guns for Scout - there are better generalist tools than GK2 and Boomstick class starts with. M1000 has strong pierce, Drak has goatload of ammo, Zhuks can pierce too, Crossbow has strong splash/distraction mods. GK2 is good mostly for sniping and Boomsticks short range is hidering its use.

Imo driller is the best kiter due to his ability to bypass armor. Scout profits more from weakpoint hits.
Scout is easier to use as kiter.

Having good light and cutting time on mineral gathering is a pretty huge contribution of its own.

Scout is fast and can reach high, plus his weapons are fairly precise. He's a great support, do not underestimate his flare gun. His weakness is slightly low attack power, meaning he may struggle a little against swarms. But once you get his hit-and-run gameplay down, he's a very worthwhile class. Also, he synergises perfectly with Engineer.

scout has a key function - working in tandem with the engineer to get high-up things, and lighting up rooms. I swear, my pet peeve is scouts that don't fire the flare gun. If you're the scout and the room you're in is dark, you're wrong and your teammates secretly hate you.

Scout can grapple up and slap gunkseeds while they're still dangling.

Scout is an Absolute Champion.
