Best secondary for Driller?

My main primary is mostly flamethrower, and i usually use plasma charger since i'm quite good at the containment field shot.

I tried using the wave cooker but it feels absolutely awful, and subata is just for cryo cannon. So what should i use?

If you're using flamethrower I'd say wave cooker set up for temp shock.

1 1 2 X 3 - Mega power supply OC is my setup.

Light stuff on fire, switch to secondary and take a chunk off their health. Frequent use of the quick swap key and you can take down big stuff fast.

Subata with full damage + volatile bullets and then either homebrew powder or full auto is a very solid choice for dealing with heavier targets

though as Johnno pointed out temp shock wave cooker is also a great build

full auto subata is my go to secondary for driller

If it's on the flamer take the 50% extra damage when enemies are on fire, if it's freeze gun or sludge pump take the mactera damage bonus obv

EPC is 40mm PGL but better. No nuke OC unfortunately.

All are quite viable but I still think that EPC is the best if you're really looking to min/max. Abuse Thin Containment Field.

I used the subata, stuck with the EPC for a while then tried the wave cooker as I had assumed it would be terrible.
I like the wave cooker. One feature that it has which the EPC, subata and flamer don't have is the ability to kill allah ackbugs without them exploding on death, they just pop without an explosion.
I'm by no means an expert however.

I’ve basically permanently shelved the Subata until I get some OCs for it, but the wave cooker is quite good. Just lean into temp shock and spread for flamethrower, and it provides reasonably efficient long range kill power, nice help with burst on big targets, and a decent weapon to switch to for finishing power after laying down flames vs swarms. It’s better with sticky flames than face melter I’d imagine but regardless It definitely didn’t feel awful to me.

Testing now, mind you I’m on low haz but even still

Right now it's 1212x Colette Wave Cooker w/ the Mega Power Supply OC for every build, using either Contagion Transmitter for the Sludge Pump, or Exothermic Reactor for Flamethrower and Cryo Cannon.

Exothermic Reactor in particular makes the Flamethrower such a joy to use now. Set everything on fire, use the Wave Cooker to pop the Guards, Slashers, and whatever else isn't dead yet via Thermal Shock. It's even pin point accurate so I finally have something to quickly and reliably nail Spitters and Webbers with, instead of hoping that some other dwarf sees them.

Subata with Tranquilizer Rounds and Volatile Rounds for me. Might not be killy but it can stun most bugs. Especially good for keeping a Menace in place for everyone to kill it.

My fav driller secondary is still EPC with TCF + Persistent Plasma.

Kamikaze bugs don't explode if you headshot them with any gun or even a pickaxe.

That's true, but microwave can shoot them anywhere so it's a lot easier.
Also it can even override detonator explosions and make everyone really confused for a second.

If you're getting less kills than your friend the gunner you're probably a bad driller. Engineer has more than the two of you combined so it's a dubious metric.

That is quite funny, never seen anyone score a killing blow with it though.
