Issues with controller in this game

Hello, just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this issue with controllers. I have a Ps4 controller using an up-to-date DS4 program. I've never had issues with it until recently and only in DRG. The controller is new, but we tried it with a different, even newer controller, and it still doesn't work in certain areas (like pressing X to select missions on the mission select place in the space rig, or you can't select your gadget because resupply and gadget are mapped to the same button and the button doesn't work anymore).

I'm inclined to think this is DRG, because the controllers work perfectly outside of DRG, this only has begun to happen recently, and my computer is fine as well, afaik. This game has gotten progressively buggier since and during the course of season 2, so this just feels like a progression of that, I guess. It just really sucks because S3 is less than a month away and the game seems to have all of these other issues, and now this as well.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Thanks.

Have you tried using the controller through Steam in big picture mode?

Well the issue is that you're playing with a controller to begin with.

Play with mouse/keyboard, problem solved, my man.

Try to disable the steam controller support for DRG in steam. Right click on the game in your library and it should be somewhere in there. I suddenly had issues that made the game unplayable with a controller, but this solved it. Also using the same setup, DS4 with PS4 controller.

I already disabled this, and it un-did itself. I didn't think to check it again lol. Thanks for this, and screw you Steam.

What I said about bugs still goes, though.

Some other tips, that might work.
It could be that the game sees two controllers, the PS4 itself and the emulated one by DS4. There should be guides on the DS4 wiki to how to manage this. https://github.com/Ryochan7/DS4Windows/wiki/Exclusive-Mode-(Hide-DS4-Controller-config-option)-tips-and-issues

Also try to disable steam's controller support entirely, the desktop part and uncheck every controller in the big picture controller screen.

Did the issues come up recently, I mean did your controller work flawlessly in DRG before?

I have/had the same issue depending on how you slice it. Late last year the PS4 controller started screwing out with DRG and I tried some things but ended up just not playing. Anyway today I tried again and did the following.

Note: this way ends up with having to relearn how to navigate menus using the PS4 controller. And I've turned the PC on and off since doing the changes and they hold.

*With the controller on and connected
In steam right click DRG - Properties - Controller - enable steam input
Then went through big picture mode - once in single click on DRG - then click the controller icon
This should put you into "Deep Rock Controller Settings" Menu
click on the long button with a controller and your user name on it this gets you into "Your layouts" - Using the keyboard arrows or the right click or the PS4 controller get the option for "DELETE LAYOUT" to appear in the bottom left and do that.
Then go across to "templates" header - scroll down select Keyboard (WASD) and mouse - select it and "apply layout"

You can stop there and relearn how the controller works in DRG or you can also do the following to make the buttons work as X=jump ,square=reload, and O=Flare

click "edit layout" in the earlier screen while using the mouse select and change the buttons opposite to the button symbols (but not the settings cog) and using the keyboard image that appears set:

X=spacebar
O=F KEY
square=E KEY
Triangle=R KEY
and so on. You'll need to set grenade from G, Rock and Stone from V, Maps from Tab, Pointer laser from Ctrl, Molly from C and Call a ammo pod from 5 too.

Steam is able to use PS Controllers through its own drivers via Big Picture mode Controller settings. You don't need DS4.
