Deep Rock Galactic
Let’s talk about Trifork volley.
Now that I’ve talked about thermal liquid coolant and overtuned feed mechanism I have two last Overclock: I wanted to talk about. I’ll start off with trifork volley.

Trifork volley is an OC that I overlooked for being “underwhelming” even though I haven’t given it a fair shot. Instead I used quick fire ejector and bodkin points. Then electric bolts were buffed, and I then realized the strong synergy with magnetic shafts. Additionally I needed an secondary with plenty of oomph to go along with my electric Drak.

When I finally tried trifork volley I was more than happy. The ammo cost is steep, sure, but it can swiftly remove a bug from existence. While the crossbow doesn’t have a weak point mod or an innate weakling bonus like the bulldog, but it does huh weak point damage if you can shoot it into a menace or shellback or goo bomber. With this overclock and electric bolts you can have the perfect crossbow for taking out large targets.

Though there are a couple of issues. Despite the description of magnetic shafts saying that the bolts are attracted to electrocuted enemies I don’t think that are. Making you miss one of your three bolts in long range. 2 bolts still do hefty damage but you just have to be more careful when shooting enemies from a distance. Each shot consumes three ammo per shot, so while you have 24 bolts you have 8 shots. It has a longer reload which isn’t too bad once you get used to it. If you want to abuse magnetic shafts bro it’s fullest then you are gonna need an efficient primary that deals electric damage (ie electrocuting focus shots with blowthrough, electric drak, electrifying reload GK2)

With all that being said, it’s kinda like jumbo shells In Terms of damage but does better in longer ranges. I think if the bolts separated less on the air as I think it would do wonders for the overclock. Trifork volley is far from being the best OC for the crossbow and it has its issues, but because it actually has downsides for a potential huge upside (that being massive damage) it makes an extremely fun and interesting overclock. I believe that things with downsides that complements the upsides are way more fun and intersects than straight upgrades. I highly encourage anyone to give this OC a shot, it’s great fun.

Alright, next thread is gonna be on feedback loop. I’m thinking about writing guides on these. What do you think guys?

The combo I've had massive success with is the following;
Drak25 with aggressive venting, more ammo, faster bullets, electrifying plasma and manual reload. Boltshark with explosive arrows and Trifork Volley, ammo, radio module and magnetic shafts. Pheromone grenades. This basically covers everything. Drak25 with aggressive venting for general purpose swarm clear and stun on large targets plus it makes it super easy to electrify targets for Trifork Volley + Magnetic shafts. Aggressive Venting is always a great option that lets you either kill huge groups of bugs, scare them off to easily revive a teammate or just continuously scare big targets on for example Salvage missions, when they get a bit too close. Explosive arrows are excellent when used with pheromone grenades, you can easily clear swarms of just about any size with an explosive arrow in the middle of a pheromoned group of bugs. Trifork Volley for the big targets, there is no real need to take the damage mod on the Boltshark since Trifork already does ridiculous amounts of damage. You'll basically one-shot any target or close to it. Just take out the Drak and finish things off that have some HP left.

For the ultimate attack against a big target I tend to first get up close, electrify it, fire off a trifork volley and then finish with a pickaxe power attack. I think the only bug that survives this (but just barely) would be something like an Oppressor.

I run trifork on the rare as heck occasion that I'm scout on elimination since magnetic shafts and IFGs make for some easy damage shots, but outside of elimination I prefer fire bolts

usually I pair it with the M1K blowthrough focus shot build to help clean up swarms, sometimes the DRAK but I haven't touched the DRAK all that much recently

Naw lets talk about something else.
I've found it underwhelming for the reload speed. For eliminations I might use it, but that would only be if the double barrel OC for boomstick didn't exist. Nothing quite as satisfying as sticking that thing up a glyphid's orifice and pulling the trigger.

The double barrel OC is the one that fires both shots at once right? If so that’s one of the worst, if not the worst OC in the game. Jumbo shells and stuffed shells are much better.

What build for your drak do you use? I’m interested in trying your strategy myself.

I think fire bolts are a bit underrated, but I find it only useful with clumped up enemies or slowdowns groups of enemies. I prefer cryo bolts for their simple HVT takedown role.

So the ding dong trying to convince a game developer who doesn’t hang out in the forums that they could be the shining light in the darkness getting a bunch of jester rewards wasn’t you?

-edit I kind of want that guy to come here to try to get a copy because that would be fun.

Noone's going to make me switch from the Cryo / Fire bolt. This is my drug and does wonders.
Actually, I’m not a big fan of the elemental bolts. They can be very effective but they are too slow for my liking.

On the DRAK25 I use 31111 + Aggressive Venting. Boltshark: 22122 + Trifork Volley.
