I also disagree with the notion that they make the game look cartoony; if anything, the game seemed more "cartoony" before, whereas now the graphics (and especially things like the shading, which at least for me seems to make the caves darker and more spooky) create (for me) a more vivid, lively experience.
The only thing I do Like is the black added to Mineables - ESPECIALLY the Morkite. I hated it before, now it's more 'Black Gold'
