Opinions on Crossbow?
So far I've found:

T1: Pheromone bolts are best all around, Explosive Chemical bolts are only really justified when you're playing Haz 5 with a team with subpar crowd control or solo, that would be different if the affected targets exploded as soon as they died, but the delay is usually just long enough for the other bugs to get away from it outside of a massive swarm, and Taser Bolts are just... underwhelming.

T2:All are good, depending on what you want to focus on.

T3: Projectile Speed is nice but the reload speed is invaluable.

T4: So many overclocks make bolts irretrievable that Radio Trasnmitter Module is usually wasted, even as a training wheel so you dont miss shots, Battle Frenzy is nice I guess.

T5: Magnetic Shafts for whe you're runnin Drak with Electro (or GK2 with the reload Overclock, if you're that kind of guy), Potent Specials for everything else, Fear bolts is a fun meme.

Overclocks

Trifork Volley: A nice alternative to Jumbo Shells, less ammo but more punch.

Bodkin Points: Very fun, and quite effective Overclock, turns the crossbow from a good single target to a good crowd weapon, which scouts needs in his secondaries.

Fire/Cryo Bolts: Both are quite underwhelming, like the Taser Bolts atm. I wouldn't mind them being much stronger for less ammo.

Quick Fire: If you like Base Crossbow this just makes it waay bettter, its everything the weapon needs.

Specialist: Really strong for controlling hordes with pheromone bolts (Still dont know why the hell Pheromone has the highest total ammo for special bolts, its clearly the strongest), or memeing a Turret Arc-lite with Taser bolts, (but its usually too much work for little payoff).

It's all right, but it will take a lot more effort to pull me away from Zhukov duelies with Embedded Detonators.

Bodkin bolts leaving multiple grunts almost dead makes Vampire very relevant on Scout me says.

For me it's exactly the opposite on T3 mods. Absolutely mandatory to make it somewhat reliable at range.

Agree with pretty much everything except T5 fear bolts. Last I checked they were bugged to fear unfearable enemies like oppressors and bulks and could be retrieved after the fear effect for infinite fear wards. Also the 33% chance is rolled 3 times a second making them more consistent then they look at first glance.

It sucks, I'd rather use the Drillers Subata and that thing is probably the least fun secondary to use in the gaem. although i don't have Overclocks for it, I'm willing to give it another try if i get bodkin Points.

I like to pair up the crossbow with any means of electrifying the enemies because it basically turns the arrows into the bullets from Engie's lock-on rifle and can hit stupid angles like a TF2 Huntsman's hitbox. If I'm not doing that, its usually the Pheromones and sticking it onto anything that would distract the hoard even for a moment, like burly enemies, some poor goon across the cave, or a lootbug minding their own business. Its definitely a weapon that seems made for multi-purpose support

cryo bolts are actually really solid. 2 bolts to freeze a neocyte breeder or praetorian, 1 for warden, spitballer or nexus breeder and they are effective against groups of swarmers.

explosive bolts are way too slow and clunky though, for the limited amount of ammo you get you should at least be able to one shot grunts when hit in the mouth, instead the bolt stuns them and the explosion animation all takes time by which the crowd they were supposed to annihilate has moved away.

pheromones are nice when they work but inconsistent.

After i finally got over my special powder addiction i started to really enjoy the crossbow. It is super useful for the team. One Pheromone bolt and one shot of engies grenade launcher is enough to wipe entire swarms. Loving it so far.

The Bodkin Points really do excel at crowd control and can either delete several grunts at once or leave them near death. The fire bolts seem kinda weak and take too long to kick in. The taser bolts are nice especially with magnetic shafts. The Explosive chemical bolts are kinda lame and might benefit from some changes. Perhaps making them detonate after a set amount of time with how long they've had to 'cook' determining how much damage they do.
