Crystalline Caverns Quartz Spires
Anyone else notice how aggressive the cave generation is with these now? I was doing a Haz4 Point Extract with a friend of mine on the Crystalline Caverns, and we ended up dying 30+ minutes in as we couldn't find the last Aquarc. We legit found 8/10 in the first 8 minutes and spent the next 22 desperately trying to find the last 2 of the aquarcs, which were buried inside the giant Quartz spires, we literally had 0 time to even look for them despite how small the cave was due to literal constant swarmer and slasher spawns. The moment we killed a squadron of 20+ bugs, another 20 would spawn. By the time we failed we had a collective 1100+ kills (not including swarmers I assume).

Has this been happening for anyone else? I feel like the quartz spires are a cool addition to cave generation in this biome, just not when they're hiding vital mission objectives to the point they are the sole reason we end up failing a mission. I can only assume this is a glitch or bug in cave generation.

yeah i got one that was so full of crystals you could almost walk up them from the floor to the ceiling without jumping
Cave gen as a whole has been a bit more wild since the release, but, yeah, Crystalline Caverns has been extra crystally. Had a cave for salvage that had quartz everywhere except around the pod. Finding a crate in the forest of quartz was fun though.

I, too, have noticed that the white quartz crystals growing sideways tend to be massive in size now (at least that was the case in the couple of Crystallibe Caverns missions I've had recently).

Honestly, while this is probably unintended, I must say that I like these new sights, even if they can make things a tad complicated when it comes to moving around the cave.

This reminds me of that time when earth fissures in Magma Core were bugged for a short time, and turned into walls of rock protruding from the ground instead (sadly didn't experience it in person, but it looked pretty cool).

Anyways, even if this specific new crystal generation is unintended, I do hope that the devs will consider to keep it in the game, with a low chance of it occurring, perhaps.

They cover whole sections of the cave now yes and are huge, but i actually like it, it is more of a challenge and gives you another pretty awesome looking obstacle to overcome.

So, uuh. Given that this is still the case, I take this is intentional? Or don't tell me this is one of those "we'll fix it next season" cases? Anyway, crystalline caverns is definitely a LOT more... crystally.

Most likely intentional, and I like it. Really is Crystalline Caverns now, beforehand it was more like Cavernous Crystals. I used to think of it like the "beginner" biome since it was typically hazard free, but the changes make it more dangerous despite not having any active hazards like poisonous gas, magma geysers, etc. etc.

Yeah I actually like it. I would prefer it staying like that. It was really plain. Next on the list should be sandblasted. that needs an overhaul too.
I'm surprised nobody has said anything about the Magic Holes in azure weald spawning in non-escort missions now :P

Didn't they always do that?

Oh well, I think the last patch decrystallized Crystalline Caverns. Back to Cavernous Crystals, huh?
