Phazyonite Feels Pointless
Phazyonite feels a bit pointless to me tbh. The shop has only quite the limited selection of cosmetics and the majority of them are pretty cheap (Below 1k).
I'm still quite the Greenbeard and still learning the ropes so I don't exactly know if the shop ever receives a substantial update to it's inventory either through assignments, promotions or whatever.
Currently I always have more than enough money over to buy the cosmetics i want after upgrading my gear, which I still only have a limited selection of. It's honestly more the other minerals that are scarce, not the money. Though assignments usually give so much anyway I can upgrade whatever I want as of now.
In the end I just can't understand the point of this new mineral at his moment, maybe if the stuff could be used to buy the previous seasons cosmetics it could be cool.

Even late game I personally find a use for it, when a high level promotion costs 140k credits, Ill take any saving I can get especially if you have to pay with minerals as well. With buying all the new overclocks, this new currency does reduce the grind massively in the long term.
This of course only applies if you want your dwarf to look good.

Am now in my 14th mission since the season started and I have found 0 Phazyonite deposits so far. Am I doing something wrong? :(

I have at least 20 missions done, and I've seen it once and it was just one chunk. Edit: and since someone mentioned Haz level, all my missions were on haz5.

Where? As a paid DLC? I meant using it to unlock these paid DLCs, mainly the past season stuff that a new player would've missed out on. Simply because for many seeing a long list of ever increasing DLCs is already a deal breaker when it comes to trying a new game, especially when these then consist of cosmetics/items previously acquirable through playing.
All of the season rewards have been added to various loot pools.
Most of the cosmetic items (beards, hats, weapon recolors etc) were put in the cosmetic overclock pool.
I believe pickaxe parts went into backpacks, and also possibly armor colors? The weapon skins should have wound up in a cargo crate.

All of them are per dwarf now. So, tech eye only unlocks for one dwarf as opposed to all the dwarves like it did last season.
Good to know, thanks. It was hard finding any information about this tbh.

I dont have any Phazyonite spawn in missions. Do I need to unlock something first?
Nah, it just doesn't spawn much. I typically like to take my time and explore the entire levels (and look for hidden areas on the scanner even after the objectives are met) and so far i've usually only found a couple per level, or even none

They are also purple, just like another type of mineral you have to find sometimes as a second objective (the name is eluding me at the moment) so in that case it's even easier to overlook, but the Phazyonite seems to be brighter, and spikier, if that helps

6 missions done, one deposit. Contained 7 ore. With this speed, my beard will be grey before I find enough to buy a cosmetic with this stuff. So it's quite useless.

I have done a couple dozen missions now since the update and myself and friends have been finding the phazonite in maybe a quarter if them. There usually isn't a huge vein of the stuff, and most of the veins we have found have been hidden away in 'off the beaten path' spots that you can easily miss.

And for those that are low level, new to the game, etc. the phazyonite will make it easier for you to get some if those fashion items you may want to get without spending your other resources. Just wait to see the costs of promoting your dwarves as they level up. You start off at almost 9000 credits and the various resources needed, but it quickly goes up to the 80k+ range for them. So if you are leveling all four of the dwarves, you can easily wipe out your funds as you promote them and like to keep updating their looks with fashion gear.

Alright so I was about to chime in about how awful phazyonite is and how it's a massive laceration on what is otherwise a near-perfect game

Then I tried to buy a cosmetic.

So yeah I don't mind phaz. Could've made it a touch more common, though; I haven't found any yet in 10-ish missions

Another 12 missions later... found one vein. 8 ores. Oh my.

Kinda strange to make a mineral for unlocking cosmetics so new players can save up for upgrades, only to have it spawn so infriquently that you either end up spending credits and resources on cosmetics anyways or waiting decades for one hat.

It's important to note though that the difference in cost is huge.

A cosmetic might cost several ten's of thousands of credits, but only a hundred or so Phazonite.

phazonite is utterly useless to me now because i already bought everything :franbow:
be gratefull that u have something to spend instead of recources and credits for when u then feel like buying out the store or the late game promotions

I have more than a thousand hours, and i still don't have enough ressources to buy every single buy-able thing in the game, far from it.

So Phazionyte is very good for players and those who spend too much in cosmetics before upgrades. I have a friends like that. They are the ones this mechanic is designed for, not you or me. Not everything in a game must be designed for everyone.

Worst case it'll shorten the time you need to do a "true 100%" completion of the game.

I'm aware, but if you're only finding 8 or so Phazyonite for every 8-10 missions, it still takes forever to unlock more expensive hats, more time than it takes to simply save credits and minerals to buy them.

I recognize it's important, but it is too infrequent in my opinion.

Also, IIRC, most hats that cost tens of thousands of credits and hundreds of minerals usually cost about 300 phazyonite. I'd have to check when I play it later, tho.

No matter how you slice it, it's extra on top of what everyone was already getting though.

Don't you get some when you level up your shop level or whatever as well?

I honestly don't know, mine is stuck at level 200 and it never moves.
zverozvero 5 MAY 2022 a las 5:17 p. m.
You get some for buying in shop and season rewards have quite a bit of it. I had few missions that scored 3 veins and with hazard % bonuses payed of 60 in the end so rng is in full swing here.
Either way its some shiny to mine and get stuff for. 1 piece of crystal can buy hat for 250c. 1 piece of crafting materials sells for 50 if you cant hop on sale daily and gold is arguably not worth time it takes to pluck off the wall.
