Yes, being mobile makes it easier to melee safely and retreat.
Most large bugs like Oppressors take bonus melee damage, so it's a valid strategy.
The best way to play scout is EXTREMELY aggressive. This includes zipping into a whole pile of swarmers, pickaxing, jumping off a cliff to avoid their retaliation, and narrowing having your grappling hook come off cooldown before you splat on the ground.
In short, scouts will play like idiots. The good ones will survive 99.9% of the time.
Some people just find it fun to grapple to a large enemy and bonk it with a power attack, even I do it sometimes if it's somewhat isolated and not being shot at.
If you pair it with the Power Attack damage upgrade and Berserk Perk, you will be able to completely erase Oppressors within seconds.
