Why does no one play driller?

I've noticed that pretty much no one plays driller. I've only seen like 2 promoted ones and that was from the discord

It depends on the mode.
Scouts are quite useful as second class.
Gunner is good for very big and vertical levels

Driller is situational. Mainly just for escapes.

Yep me and my friend are both driller mains and we do this. We played an all scout (least played class for both of us) plus two other scouts (including one non-promoted) Elimination mission on Haz 5 where we popped all three dreads at once. Hiveguard was the last dread alive and 3/4 of the team ran completely out of ammo before he was even down to 75% health. We managed to melee the 3 protrusions and I'd just use ammo when his bum was exposed. We managed to beat it and complete the mission though. Pretty exciting.

On the other hand we also do all driller egg missions where we pop 8 eggs at once by strategically placing C4 and assigning everyone an egg to drill. Also pretty fun.

How did you set your server browser filter? I see them all the time.

I love Point Extraction, and everyone knows a good driller can make a PE mission much smoother. Probably the best class to drag 3 downed dwarves through one whole PE mission single-handedly.

I started out as an engie and scout guy, but I have been drifting more and more to driller recently. The amount of area denial he can throw out while terraforming faster than anyone else is handy in nearly every mission type. The only thing driller sorta lags in is dreadnought damage, but I take the armor melting perk on the sludge gun and play a more supportive role, carving hidey tunnels and melting armor.

Driller is the hardest (or at least the most complicated) to use effectively, and thus the class that newer players tend to try out last.

Driller is stupid class for edgelords skidaddling away, dying and ragequitting, it's natural selection. Seems reasonable nobody wants to play it.

I agree on this, I hated driller class at the beginning to play. I C4 myself swapping to wrong weapon/tool, drilled me to death. Flamethrower and Subata seemed crap at the beginning (now I know how wrong I was).

I am terrible as driller and often the player with the most downs when playing as it. Just haven't quite figured out the specifics.

It's always been Scout, engi, gunner, driller, with no changes.

Experienced the same first hand. Particularly true when you're looking for a random lobby, the driller position is the least likely to be filled. Which is fine with me.

On the other hand, every single one of my friends like to play driller. As do I. :|
