Also if i played online how important is voice chat to getting stuff done?
Not at all, most teams are completely silent; the in game communication tools are all you need.
For the most part, yes. One, the scout, is usually considered a so-so choice for soloing because his firepower tends not to be suited to eliminating large groups of low priority targets, which are a threat at higher difficulty. Also, what the scout does well, the AI drone helper does almost as well. Otherwise, some classes struggle/excel at certain types of mission, that's why solo players tend not to "main" one.
The non-vocal tools in this game are top-notch. No voice chat necessary. The environments and enemy variety will naturally bring any team that's not made up of total boneheads into a reasonable semblance of cooperation at first, and with experience can turn even randos into a well-oiled machine.
"Yes"
All the Dwarf classes are viable solo, though on higher difficulties some may shine brighter than others.
Even if you don't want to play multiplayer with randoms, you should still hop into a mission or two and decide from there. Most of the community will be kind and accepting of a newer player, but as always there will be the occasional Elf in dwarf disguise.
2. You don't need to worry about voicecom. It's a casual game and you will have pretty much 100% winrate with any team up to haz 4.
This is that kind of game what not punish you hard if you play solo.
It is not boring as some said above. Most players have fun in their comfortable Haz level both on solo or coop mode.
People even go to Reddit regularly and post screenshots of their stats screens showing Zero solo missions completed like it's some badge of pride with topics like "I'VE NEVER PLAYED A SOLO MISSION!" to which I generally am forced to reply "I'm so sorry for you."
It's a great way to stretch your legs and develop as a player. Try new things. See how effective your builds REALLY are. And anyone that tells you soloing at higher haz levels is easier than team play at higher haz levels is on drugs. Managing a full mission with no teammates at Haz 5 is one of the most satisfying challenges in the game.
The best answer: Team play is the bread and butter of the game and what makes it great. Mixing a good bit of solo with the team play though gives you a great experience. And as some have said, some people have pounded this game entirely solo for hundreds of hours before going MP...or never even. I respect the hell out of that.
